I've recently had some of my members who've been registered for some time suddenly getting an error on the system. If they're not logged in they can view the posts ok, but if they log in they get the following error.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'strArray'

/inc_func_common.asp, line 1447

This only happens with certain users, and it will happen on any computer they happen to be using, not just one machine....... i would love it if someone could figure out what's going on and help me out......

the discussion on these errors is on the forum and you can view it at http://discuss.pdsa.org/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2578 if you think that will help

You can view the relevant asp file at http://talhost.net/inc_func_common.asp

You are still using Snitz 3.4.01. I would advise an upgrade to 3.4.03.

I can't upgrade, i'd never be able to get the two mods installed again... i had LOTS of trouble (i believe others did too) trying to get a chat mod working...I had a lot of help wiht it in the end, but i'd never be able to do it again....

what's changed about 3.4.03?

That error is a 3.4.01 error. It has been solved in subsequent versions. 3.4.01 was a bit of a buggy version and a lot of issues were addressed in the versions that followed it.

Several security issues were addressed also and besides, you should also install the security fixes posted here: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=118

If you want to correct the issue, do a search in the archive for that error message.

ahh, ok......thanks... hmmm - seems like i really should do the upgrade. i wonder if i can track down the guy who helped me install the chat mod perhaps he'd be willing to help me out again - or perhaps i could find an alternative off-site chat room - would have been nice however to keep the exisiting one because it keeps the person's login info and if they're logged into the forum they don't have to log into the chat.

Ok, rambling now.....thanks for the help....i'll work out what to do

Talie,

We use ParaChat, and are able to do the same thing - send the login information from the forum to the chat. We bought the server software so we could host our own chats.

It's a wasted day if you don't spend at least part of it flying upside down.

I had the same problem and used the information in this post to fix it - so far so good.
