I've tried putting in three mods now, but to no avail. I'm just wondering if I'm changing the asp code correctly. I basically make backups of all the files that are to be modified, I then modify them, and save them in a seperate folder, and then upload them. This is all after finishing the previous steps, of course. Every time I have tried to put in a mod, the forum doesn't even work after uploading the modified files.
Just wondering if there is a "correct" way of editing the asp files different than what I'm doing now.
Thanks. |

Chances are, you are having trouble because of forgetting to add some code or putting the code in the wrong spot or .. (could be a number of things).
My advice is to add one MOD at a time. If you get error from the get go and you can't figure out why, make a post here. Don't forget to put the mod name in the subject of the topic, to paste the exact error message you are getting, include a link to your forum with a test account we can use, and include links to text versions of any of the files that are giving you problems. |

I am by no means an expert on these things but I have had similar trouble initially when using Access DB. My problem was that server the DB is running on does not have permission to create tables (as far as I can tell), and as pretty much every MOD I have installed requires new tables the MODS did not work.
The solution was to download the database to my local PC, add (or modify) the tables manually (found out what tables/fields were required by interogating the db_whatever file) then upload the database back to the server.
Even more bizarre is the the server does have permission to delete tables. Some MODS I have installed delete tables, then create new ones in their place. With my setup that rendered the entire forum unusable.
This may have nothing whatsoever to do with your problem but it may be worth investigating. It's definately worth persuing as some of the MOD's available are fantastic and really enhance the forum.

Nikkol,
For some reason I never tried the Alternate MOD Setup. I'll give it a go with the next MOD I install and see what happens.
Thanks for the advice.
