I downloaded a version of Snitz Forums in the latter part of 2002. I'm not sure how to tell what version I have. Can anyone help? Also, we are wanting to upgrade without installing the new version and erasing the old version. I made quite a few changes to the version that we have (for example, I added a few tables and edited queries to include one of our other SQL Server databases). Any suggestions on how to do this?
Thanks, Alison |

Hold your mouse over the "Powered by" link and it will tell you the version. You can also find it in the admin section. |

Though by looking at that, that's an older version because Huw and Richard aren't on the copyright at all. |

Thanks, Dave. I have version 3.3.03. Now I'm wondering if I can upgrade without starting completely over. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks! Alison |

I would upgrade regardless. There are some serious security issues that if you haven't been keeping up to date on the fixes, need to be done. Plus with all the speed enhancements and a few updates, there are advantages to upgrading.
Do you have mods installed? If so, go to SnitzBitz.com (or track them down in the mod add-ons w/ code forum) and figure out which mods have been upgraded to 3.4.xx and you'll need to apply them again.
If it's the default, all you should need do is delete out ALL the asp files from your forum directory, update the config.asp file with the correct connection info, run setup.asp to upgrade the database to the latest version and you should be OK.
Of course, I would suggest backing up the database and the asp files first, just in case :D |
