I was thinking about another security feature that would be great to have. I suggested it to Nikkol to put in her new MOD but she is too busy right now, with fixing errors and such (very understandable ). Here is what I asked her. I was saying that it would be great to have a spammer MOD where you could limit the number of posts per day a member could make. So basically you enter the spammer MOD from the admin home and select the user from a drop down box, enter the number of posts per day and click submit. This would then only let that member make that many posts. This would make spammers (that are truly interested in your forum, just dont know when to stop posting! ) stop and think about how to be more "conservative" with their posts. Then later you could remove that block after they have learned their "lesson". Does everyone follow? Well how about it? |

Or, could there already be a MOD out there that does this? |

You can effectively do the same thing with my User Probation Mod. You can put a user on probation, thus requiring all their posts to be moderated. |

The user probation mod would be helpful since a spammer should be moderated. |

Thank you. I may look into that but I dont think you and I are thinking of the same "type" of spammer. The spammer I am thinking of (this type of spammer exists on a different snitz board that I help out) is one that never posts anything obscene, rude, or wrong but just continues to post to no end. Do you understand? Thanks for that MOD link you gave me. i will look into that but I am still curious to see what others have to say. |

Reducks87,
What you describe is exactly the problem we had with one person. This person would continue to post the same thing over and over again, in slightly different form. By putting the member on probation, all her posts were moderated, and after a few were disapproved for being repetitious, she got the message, and we took her off probation after a while. |

I completely understand what you are saying. Maybe it is my fault for not making myself understood. This member I am thinking of does not post the same thing over and over again. She just posts comments to ppls threads, starts her own, etc... but they are not repetitious. I wouldnt want to approve her every message. I just would like to be able to limit how much she can post. |

Sounds like maybe the easist thing to do is to modify the FloodControl checking with a special case against her memberid. I believe that's done in post_info.asp. |
