You'll have to bear with me on this as i'm a newbie and on a steep learning curve, i applied the avatar mod and followed the instructions and updated the forum but although the mod is listed (its the first mod i've attempted) there is no section to actually add an avitar, is this because i have not added any avatar pics to the forum folder, or have a i made a mistake, when logged in with admin rights i can see in the forum variables section this:
/forum/INTSHOWAVATAR 1
/forum/STRAVATARFOLDER avatars/
/forum/INTAVATARWIDTH 64
/forum/INTAVATARHEIGHT 64
/forum/INTAVATARBORDER 1
Does this mean i need to creater an avatars/ folder somewhere ? if so why doesnt it show the add avatar section in the profile page but just fail ?

Do you get an error message? Depending on the mod your using, members wont be able to add and avatar, only select one from the list provided by yourself.
As for the avatars folder just create it inside your forum directory. |

ok that makes sense but shouldn't there be an 'avatar' section within the 'profile' screens, there's not even the slightest mention of an avatar ?
or is the mod so clever that because there aren't any avatars yet it just leaves it off ?

| I would say yes, there should be a mention of avatar in the profile, even if no avatars are present. I would check the changes you made to pop_profile.asp and inc_profile.asp. |

couldn't wait until tonight so i've been busy at work ??!!
The avatar section is now showing in the users profile screen :)
i also uploaded 341 avatars to a folder called avatars but how do i point the user profile to look at this folder and display all the available .gif files, or should they be in the /forum folder as it displays the 'no avatar.gif' file just fine ???
I'll try renaming the 'avatars' folder to 'avatar' first just incase ;)
please post if there is a specific folder title i should use

You have upload the avatars to your server...was this done via the Admin Options page?
If not go into the Admin Avatar settings page's and choose Mass Avatar Add, you can add the avatars into the database from there.
Just having the images in the folder does not mean the mod will find them, they need to be added to the database as well. |
