I went ahead and applied for ben-harper.net b/c now it has no broken links, but they said no. I HATE that they don't give you an explanation, but at least they usually give you fast responses. I'm guessing mine is just lack of content, and it's fairly obvious that it's not finished. But w/e...I'll apply again in a week or so when I finish it. -Gabe |

Join the club. I have gotten a very fast response from Bitpass. They seem very cooperative. If you're interested in using micropayments for access to your site, you might give them a look. Having content would help though.
If I had more activity on my forum, some kind of small Bitpass micropayment for forum access would definitely be on my to do list.

I finally fixed my broken links yesterday (just temporary) and got approved very quickly. I've only installed AdSense on one page (so far) but I just get a white box with no content ... is this expected for a while ? (I think I read somewhere that it was) |

I started mine 2 days ago. I am only displaying the Ads on topics.asp which has proven pretty accurate to the discussions at times. For instance, we were discussing routers and networking in one topic and the ads seem to revovle around things like Linksys and other networking sites. Another topic was discussing tattoos and sure enough the Ads revolved around tattoo websites. I'm not in it for profit at all, just interested in seeing how accurate and/or useful it is. |

LOL! That's good. Say Dayve, what kinda of click throughs are you getting, as well as impressions? I am really starting to get interested in this. Do you know what kind of prophit you make from impressions or click throughs? My sites see around 10,000 page views a day and I think this would be a good idea for me. |

Be aware that discussing CTR and impressions is against the AdSense TOS. For me at least, it has proven very successful on my forums and my site. Just wish you could do something about the charity ads. If we can't use PSA space to display other ads then at least let us select our own charities! |

Unfotunately, the PSA's are displaying until Google get round to indexing the page and identifying its content. When using google on forums, this happens a lot as new pages are generated all the time. I guess they must be Google's favourite charities! |

Yes, I know that. I just wish we could have a default - or at least a choice of charities... I mean, gorillas??? - to replace the PSA's. |

Interesting, didn't know you couldn't discuss that stuff. I am thinking of "testing" this on my forum like dayve is so see how well it works. To tell you the truth I hate all the advertising on the internet these days but if I were to go with something, this seems the best way. I have already been aprooved, just have to get consent from my members. I think if I do decide to go all the way with this I would lets say, have some kind of option where the members could turn off ads. Like lets say, they may turn off ads if they are a member and have 100+ posts, or something like that. I would of course bury this option deep, kinda like microsoft does with a lot of thier stuff. I would like to encourage an active board more than I would want to show ads. |

Not bad, but there a bit too many "general ads" to my liking...I tried to set up an "alternate URL", but I'm having problems with the syntax. A single picture works: google_alternate_ad_url = "http://www.gpspassion.com/pics/banner/350x70_MapSonic_palm.gif"; but not a clickable one using their example <a href="http://www.google.com"><img src="http://www.gpspassion.com/pics/banner/350x70_MapSonic_palm.gif" /></a> or with google_alternate_ad_url = <a href="http://www.google.com"><img src="http://www.gpspassion.com/pics/banner/350x70_MapSonic_palm.gif" /></a>
I must be missing something obvious...

Try putting all the code you want to call in a page, say adsense.htm, and putting that URL in your AdSense code. That's what I'm doing, and it works fine. |
