Speedball uses CSS for all formatting and a conservative estimate would be 20% smaller though it can be much more. |

i am not sure if this makes the final output smaller or not but i am converting the forum to a table less forum using div tags and css. you can check it out in my sig.. i am still working on it as i go, so there may be bugs in the layout. if your using IE the menu will be a little high but its ok in firebird.. if you know what that haappens let me know..
anyway nice work D3mon without all your work this would take me alot longer |

http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/snitz/speedball/demo - using Speedball II (default) http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/snitz/speedball/compare - using 3.4.04 (default) Both using same DB:
default.asp 20.79K (v3.4.04) 12.27K (Speedball2) 47% saving
forum.asp 65.71 KB (v3.4.04) 40.32 KB (Speedball2) 39% saving
topic.asp 94.9 KB (v3.4.04) 63.47 KB (Speedball2) 33% saving
active.asp 100.53 KB (v3.4.04) 57.35 KB (Speedball2) 43% saving
Overall, approx 40% saving in bandwidth usage with Speedball II |

I'm not a big fan of CSS-P, but I'll follow your work with interest. |

D3mon
I've been reading the development of Speedball II, but have just downloaded the latest version on Snitz. Obviously the savings you have highlighted would be a great advantage. Should I not install the latest version but use Speedball II version instead? Will the other Mods work with Speedball II or will there have to be some kind of conversion like OneWayMule is doing for his mods?
Its a great idea by the way! |

Speedball II is based on the latest version of Snitz (3.4.04) and should be used instead of Speedball I, and I personally prefer it to the normal Snitz.
MODs have to be converted but it is quite an easy process and you should be able to do it yourself. However, over the next two weeks hopefully many of the most used MODS will be ready for Speedball so I can use them myself.
What MODS did you have in mind? D3mon is already doing Avatar and I am already doing Private messages and the state/county MOD. |

OneWayMule might convert the following
Custom Policy, F.A.Q. Administration, Forum Rules, Links Manager (when its finished).
I will also need the Content Mod so if no-one else does it then I will convert that too. |
