Hi there, I guessing my problem is related somehow to the events in this section.
The problem that I am having is that I can access the forums fine........IFI am part of the administrators group on the server. any other group doesn't allow me to access the forums. I get a
HTTP Error 401 401.3 Unauthorized: Unauthorized due to ACL on resource.
The forums are on a Windows NT machine running IIS. The security is set to windows NT challenge/response.
The weird thing is that the forum is actually in the same directory as the intranet we have and the intranet works fine!
Tried everything possible with permissions, trying different servers etc.
Getting stuck BIG TIME!I'm not using the latest version of the forums, maybe this is an option?
Just tried the new version of the forums with the exact same error.
What the H*ll is going on?
I see & can use the forums fine when I use the NT auth as Administrator or anyone that is in the Administrator group, but as soon as I log in as someone that isn't an administrator or in the administrator group.......can i get access.......... I don't think so!
I can set it to anonomus also and it still wont access it...I running out of Ideas and getting very very frustrated.
alright Ben... do you remember if you did anything special on this server like run IIS Lockdown, or the security toolkit? You may want to start at www.microsoft.com and do a search in their knowledge base for the error you are getting.
I haven't run anything that I know of out of the ordinary. It was a fresh install of Win NT witht the 4.0 option pack. I have frontpage extensions running which are the newest ones I could find and thats it. I haven't used any security tools, and I don't know what this lockdown thing is. I have looked at Microsofts website using the error I get in the browser. But its not proving that great.
I shall keep looking though.
I feel like this >> at the moment with this error!
