We had that installed for a while - it works well for low volume sites, but we have since upgraded to a java chatroom that verifies users with our snitz db.
If you have only a few chatters it will work fine though - it was a neat little script. |

What would "a few" be? We get about 15 - 25 chatters each evening just for general chit chat. When we have a topic with a guest speaker there are many more.

You have to be logged in to use it though. If you log in as test/test, you can muck about with it as much as you like! Please note that I have changed my version quite a bit from the standard Snittzychat install. I found it particularly useful to add options to change the font and font colour as well as bold, italic and underline.
I've had 10-12 members logged in and chatting at the same time with no noticeable reduction in speed. |

Does anyone have a download available for their chatroom that they might like to share?

I'm currently working on one, etercia chat or something like that, it's from hotscripts and one of the most popular chat scripts there. However, down side is that it is super basic but **** fast. I plan to call the userid from the cookie but this is not very secure. I I really go to the length of calling from the db, I think I will need to custom code a lot.

I created the mod package that is on the second page of the above link. You can see it at my forum (http://www.glpuc.org/forum). You must log on to see it but you can use test user/test. I recommend using version 4.2.1 instead of version 4.3. Currently 4.3 has problems with some servers about removing users correctly.
I get 30 to 35 users and do not have a performance problem. |

I use 4.3 with no problems. I can tell you that the problem with users not being removed when they log out is probably due in part that they have a pop-up blocker. ConquerChat pops a window up while securing the user and with a popup blocker, the user will never get secured/removed properly. |

Well I do not use pop up blocker software and had major problems with users getting kicked off even if they were active - but never removed. The user did not log off but was kicked off. So I rule out the pop up blocker software. However I have also used 4.3 on other websites with no issues. It appears to only effect certain servers. I have been working with ConquerChat to help toubleshoot it.
If 4.3 works then I would use it. However when it does not work it gives the users a really bad experience. So that is why I suggested version 4.2.1. |

Well someone emailed me through the test account on my forum asking for the link to the mod. Since I do not have his email I hope he finds it here. Here is the link to download the mod: http://www.glpuc.org/mods/Chat_Integ_V1.zip . This includes version 4.3 but can be applied to 4.2.1. |

Thank you for the zip, n8pbm.
My wife will love this. She seems to be the one who chats while I am the one who codes. Works out that way somehow.
Oh, BTW, your zip link above has a . in the link at the end. Creates a "Page cannot be displayed" error. The file did download for me after deleting the . off of the end.
Sincerely,
Etymon
