Rather than modifying the code, wouldn't it be easier to change the names of the forums slightly so that they aren't named the same?
Example: "General Help" forum in the "ASP" category could be named "ASP: General Help" "General Help" forum in the "Javascript" category could be named "Javascript: General Help"
