I've been asked to make a new website for the DonKosakenChor Russland, or the Don Cossacks in English, which is a Russian choir. Don't feel bad if you've never heard of them
Their current site is in Dutch and German, but the new one will be in Dutch, German and English. Now to cut down on the cost, I'll be the lucky one to translate the Dutch text to English. I'm confident enough that I can do it, but to be sure there aren't too many typos or grammar errors, I'd like to ask if there are one or two people who would be willing to read the texts for me and make notes on what I did wrong. I don't trust Word's spell checker enough
I won't be able to pay for the work you'd do, but would really appreciate it. If you want to do one page only, that's cool. I'm not asking you to check it all. There's no rush, but when I send you some text, I would appreciate it if I wouldn't have to wait a month to get some corrections back
I'll start work on the Dutch part of the site tomorrow. Each time a page is done, I'll translate it into English. So if all goes well, the first page should be done on Saturday. I'll either email the text in a Word 2000 document or upload the site's page so you can check it there.
You can reply here or via the forums' email function if you're willing to help. Please only people whose native language is English.

Second thing: for that same site, I've been asked to add some Russian text to some of the pages. Now how would I go about getting that working? Wouldn't the visitor need a Russian font in order for the characters to display?
Eventually the site will also be translated into Russian, so any information on this would be very welcome.

Thanks

FrutZle,

Does Australian count as English? You can send me the files once translated and I can go through them for you. I do not mind doing this sort of stuff.

Cheers,

Thanks Bozden for the answer, but wouldn't people need to have a Russian font installed in order for them to see those, rather special, characters?

Rasco, I know they're famous (or at least well-known ) in Germany. We have contact with their conductor, Marcel Verhoeff, and he told us they'd just finished their German tour. I believe Turkey will be their next destination, but I'm not sure about that.

David, thanks for the offer. I will definitely take you up on that
And uhhhh... Australian is some kind of English, just like British and American

You must have the characters somewhere to be able to see them.

Unicode enabled fonts (most common fonts in modern OS) already has room for all existing characters, including Russian chars. I'll try to create the v4b04 (semi)langpack and show you in a test size...

Be glad we're going to use a translation company to get the texts translated to Russian then HR

Bozden, if not everyone will be able to see the Russian characters on screen, I think it'd be better to advise the site's owner not to use Russian at all.
