I want to know if is necessary insert a riferiment to snitz in my forum. My site is of italian public administration of e-government.
I thin tht is a no good idea insert the snits logo in the footer of my forum. (it's url is http://www.basilicatanet.it/forum/default.asp)
It's illegal? |

BadCat, it is absolutely necessary to keep the copyright meta tags and the powered by link. As a government agency you have to support to keep copyrights intact, more than any user.
I even could not figure out what version it is.

You think it's not a good idea to insert the logo at the footer? You can change to have a text link instead, it's a bit more discreet. Just check the value of the option Use Graphic for "Powered By" link, in Admin Options, Main Forum Configuration. Make sure it's set to off.
Of course, you need to have at least the text link. I think you'll agree that it's a better idea to use a Snitz forum with the text link than having to build your own forum, or needing to pay for it. |

Off-topic, but in relation to your reply: last week (or the week before) I read in the paper that one of the Dutch government's networks was getting plugged up so badly that the network administrators sounded the alarm. They make backups of all the files on the network every night and usually the backup wasn't done in the morning when the admins came to work. The reason for the problems were all the (illegally downloaded) MP3 and video files the people were storing on the network. Talk about giving the right signal to "the people"  They're deleting all MP3 and video files now, no matter if they're work-related or not. |

What kind of license is relased the snitz forum? My be it's GPL license, and so what is the point of the license that obligated me to public a link/immage to snitz?
How ever i have put a meta like these in every pages (<meta name="copyright" content="This code is Copyright (C) 2000-01 Michael Anderson and Pierre Gorissen">), it resolves my probably illegal position?
Understand me please, if common people know that the forum is free how i can be paid for him (I take about 50.000 euro in a year!!!)????

No, that is just 1 of the requirements, there also has to be be the Powered By Logo/Text Link on the bottom right hand corner linking to http://forum.snitz.com/ .
If you had never removed these items in the first place, then you wouldn't have to be adding them back. I take great offense to your statement "I think is a no good idea insert the snitz logo in the footer of the forum". We don't ask people to insert the logo, we put it there, and we expect it not to be removed. You act like it is a great inconvenience for you to have to put it in there.
Why don't you just remove our forum from your site and find a different forum software to use? Do you think that would be easier? |

I just want to Know if is illegal and someone can denunce me for this act.
And also I want to know if there is some security bug.
The forum is directly with the amministration database with about 53000 email how you can see at http://www.basilicatanet.it/forum/members.asp and so it's a good food for hackers... but my server is superman! |

Yes, it could probably be hacked, there was a security bug in the members.asp page. But, don't expect any help whatsoever until you fully comply with our Licensing Agreement. |
