This topic is about no more Go Button.
Lets compare click by click
datepicker:
- Load datepicker (1 Click)
- Select Year (Open Drop down + Select Year = 2 Clicks Plus Scrolling)
- Select Month (Open Drop down + Select Month = 2 Clicks Plus Scrolling)
- Select Day (Click on the day in the calendar - 1 click)
Total 6 Clicks Plus 2 Scrollings
Select Boxes:
- Select Year (Open Drop down + Select Year = 2 Clicks Plus Scrolling)
- Select Month (Open Drop down + Select Month = 2 Clicks Plus Scrolling)
- Select Day (Open Drop down + Select Day = 2 Clicks Plus Scrolling)
Total 6 Clicks Plus 3 Scrollings |

Yes but it's all done on the same page. The datepicker has to load and reload a pop-up to get it done. |

I find the datepicker a lot more intuitive than 3 drop-downs. It uses a calendar analogy, which is something people are used to when working with dates. Once the go button is gone, it works much better than any other option, IMO. |

I know Gaurav, I was just stating that since you have an option to get rid of the Go button, things are more intuitive like that. |

Nikkol posted 2 changes in this topic:
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41030
then you would just remove the "Go" Button and change the instructions to reflect the change in how the date is chosen.
I still fail to see what is so difficult about choosing the month and year and then pressing the go button. I find it kind of annoying when a page refreshes when I change the value in a dropdown, especially if I am trying to change the value in a different dropdown on the same page when the page refreshes. |

Thanks for the link Richard, I wanted to see GB's version of it...
It is not a bug, but for sure there is an issue with user friendlyness of the interface... The status of many boards also show that users have problems with this.
Actually having a GO button is a good thing for cases that JS does not work, but I think it is much natural to have the page adapt intelligently, provided that there is no compatibility issue.

The changes suggested by Nikkol will work fine. The difference is I have complete instructions to remove the "GO" button and other statements which were related to "GO" button. Another difference is I have used a function, to eliminate a possibility of an error which could occur when the user selects single digit month or day.
bozden, the site is up and statistics show users are able to access the site. Is there a particulatr error you are getting. Please let me know, I will look into it.
I prefer the calendar to reset without the need to click on "GO" button. |

Ok ruirib, I just think that a task like picking the date is already too obvious to require a special interface. Also, pop-ups = more loading time |
