Several of my users have requested a feature that will allow them to ignore other users. I've looked around, but can't find a mod that will do that. Does anybody here know if there is such an animal? |

I have almost finished such a MOD. If you can be patient I will have it available in a few days.

Heh, well it will not be a total ignoring because I'm not sure it would be possible or a good idea to ignore posts but some of my members have asked me to try. I have it working with PMs for now and am trying to figure out what else could and should be ignored.

Why would someone want to ignore other users (other than PMs) ? |

Because that persons posts offend them on a regular basis yet the post may not itself be against your forum's policy. It may just be that a member is sick of seeing anything from that other member. Active users is another place for this as well as the member list itself.

Hmm, in those cases I would lock their accounts. Anyway, I´m looking forward to seeing this MOD. |

I agree, some boards a plaqued by people whos sole purpos in life is to make inane comments just for the sake of posting. How are you showing the posts @tomic, do you still show them as existing or remove from dieplay entirely ?
Personally I would just blank the message text, otherwise you may forget someone is on your ignore list. |

I haven't got as far as topics yet but I was thinking of exactly what you suggested(blanking out) for the reason you suggested and also so that if other members are responding to them they can at least have some idea of what's going on in a discussion without actually seeing it. Just making the text match the background would be a simple solution.
A dating service MOD will need all this and more which is why I started on this.

it is probably easier just to set R_Message o T_Message to "" if the author is in your ignore list. would also keepa striclimit o the sizeof he list soyoucakeep it in a session aray or somethingto save data calls. |

Mr Not Ignored (not on ignore list of Mr IGNORING) who read the message posted by Mr IGNORED (on ignore list of Mr IGNORING ) and post comments relating to that message. Mr IGNORING will be reading thru the discussion which is related to Mr IGNORED's message and at some point Mr IGNORING may feel like reading Mr IGNORED's message.
You may use the [Spoiler][/Spolier] to hide the message. |

AKA Trolls!
The other problem that will arise is when someone that you are not ignoring does a quote of someone that you are ignoring, therefore showing the ignored persons post! |

Yes, that would be tricky, but not impossible, to block. There's also the possibility that it's someone's member name or avatar that's offensive as well. As GauravBhabu suggested, I was thinking of using the spoiler code but this is only effective at hiding the text. Maybe I could work it out using a +/- button to show/hide offensive posts so they are available but only if you feel a need to go see a hidden post.
