Dear Snitz Developers and fellow members,

I have read some threads about security issues and understand Howards frustration. I am Vice President of communications for the NCR chapter at: http://www.issa-dc.org We use your forum and proudly recognize snitz forums as a valuable tool in our communications efforts.

I would like to help in any way we can. Perhaps we can get some volunteers to do some forensic testing etc.... You have helped us considerably by enabling us to have a communication tool that would otherwise not be available. Is there something our organization can do to help with security issues?

er, who is Howard?

In general, please don't test on these forums or you may find your account locked. If you locate any suspicious code, send a private email to Richard or HuwR, don't post here. The current version with all fixes has no known exploits.

It's also fair to say that the latest version of the forum has no known security issues.

Ok,

Sorry for the post. I meant HuwR not Howard...I have been up for a while and am not very coherent.

I saw a post with 95 replies about HuwR wanting to give up, or something like that becouse some hackers changed the name of this forum?

Anyway.... I was just trying to say that I really like this forum and really appreciate what the snitz community has to offer. I am not a programmer and can not offer any help like that.

ISSA is a security organization using your software so I was just saying that this program is pretty darn good and if a security organization is using it than I wouldnt let any hacker get me discouraged. If the organization could help in any way I would try my darnest to offer that.

Anyway... I am just a newbie to all this and probably sound like a complete idiot and Ill just shut up now...

Again.... Thank you very much to the snitz community....You guys are the Best!!!!

Lcasey, thanks for your intrest to help us. The best way you could help us in terms of security issues is to test our software (on your own server) for security holes and if you find one, you can email the details of the security hole to one of our admins or development team members. We would work with you in correcting the problem.

Aside from that, we are fairly confident that our current software, with the fixes provided, is secure from any security holes.

And we will be just as confident after the next hole is plugged right????? I wouldn't turn offers of help down although there isn't really a need to ask. Just test on your own server and if you find something by all means send a message to Richard or Huwr. Everyone benefits by such testing with exploits reported the right way to the right people.

Maybe I should have said it differenlty.

"As far we (the development team) know, there are no security holes in the current version of our software."

And I am sure I told lcasey how he could help us finding security holes and what he should do. Which is basically what you repeated in your post.

All help is welcomed in making a better software.
