...you click "view results"
This can be seen here: http://www.pandoraproductions.net/forum/default.asp
There is only 1 active Poll at the moment, all votes have been reset. You can login with:
User: Test Password: password
Initially when you look at the poll, you do have an option to vote. It seems to be a two-fold bug. If you decide to just view the results before voting; I cannot figure out how to get back to the voting options.
Additionally, if I log in to the forum as different user from the same machine, I am stuck seeing the results 'cause of the previous users activity.
My guess is its a cookie thing.
Any ideas?

yea it is a cookie issue. Same thing is happening with my poll. too be honest. it doesnt matter.. because what are the chances of two different ppl voting from the same machine.. unless you are at internet cafe |

True, but there is still the issue of what-if you look at the results before voting? Then you cannot vote . |

That's how the poll mod was done. To prevent users from looking at the results before they vote. If they view the results, they give up the chance to vote in the poll.
This was decided by the majority of poll mod users before I released the mod. |

Davio, is it possible for you to make a quick change to this mod so that Admins have the choice of whether or not to allow people to view results and then vote or the current method? |

If I told you it wouldn't be quick but that it would be a long and tedious process to accomplish that, would you say never mind you can live with it and make me get away with it?
I will see what I can do for the next update. Not promising anything though. If it's too much code changes I will give up that idea. |

I just remove the View results button and Set the poll to Members only and it's working the way I like it to. Not saying the other way was a bad one. I really love the work you did here Davio, It's a really nice addition to my site.
If your interested, this is how I did it.
I reworked the Reworked files. - Topic.asp
- inc_poll.asp
- pop_poll.asp
- If available - inc_spoll.asp
Romove this line below: "<input type=""image"" src=""" & strImageURL & "view_results.gif"" name=""results"" width=""95"" height=""16"" hspace=""0"" alt=""Poll Results"" onClick=""submitPoll(this)"">" & vbNewLine
Change (Anonymous Vote) to this (Vote to view results) on the line below: Response.Write "<font color=""" & strForumFontColor & """ face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strFooterFontSize & """>(Vote to see results)</font>" & vbNewLine & _
You can see how it works on my site. |

I've set up the poll mod and posted a test at my site. I have one member who said: quote: When I choose a radio button and then click on VOTE NOW, I get the following message:
You cannot view the poll results before you vote! Go Back to Vote.
I also get the same message when I select VIEW RESULTS.
I suspect this problem may be caused by what Davio described here? But he cannot vote or view the results. As Admin, I see that this guy did not vote in the "See who voted" link. However, "Total Votes" indicated 11 counted when "See who voted" only has 9. Is the discrepancy related the member who cannot view the poll? Any thoughts?

What version of the poll mod do you have? Look in the readme file if you are not sure. The latest version is 2.0.4. |

I'm running poll mod 2.0.4.
Member with problem is using Netscape 4.73 - any potential issue there? Thanks.

The problem appears to be a browser related issue, because the user did not have problems using It worked with Netscape 7.0. |

I forgot about this and have now made a note in the poll that warns people to vote first - before viewing the results - if they want their vote to count.
Is there a way to "reset" a couple members so they can vote even though they had already viewed the results? Or is there a way for me to go into the database and input their votes manually? Or would this cause more problems than it's worth?
Thanks, AKW |

I guess you could go into the database and remove thier vote. You would need the topic id and member id. You will be looking for thier vote where the column GUEST_VOTE will equal to 1. |
