Hi I am very new here and I have never worked with ASP in my life... I do understand a little HTML and I was wondering whether it is worth the time to use snitz... Is it begginer friendly for someone who hasn't has any ASP experience... Sorry if this is the wrong board... I just wanted to know if I would be wasting my time...

Read the readme file (link in my sig) and you can decide for yourself.

Would you be wasting your time learning how to drive a car, if you could also just take the bus?

It depends on what you see as a waste of time. Most people are more than willing to spend the two minutes it takes to setup a Snitz forum, but others prefer to use a service such as ASP-DEV where everything is done for you, but where you don't have any control over the source files.

To answer your question: you won't need to know any ASP to get a Snitz forum working, nor to customize the colors and fonts.
After the basic configuration, you could move on to adding MODs, but that does require a little common sense and the ability to follow a readme file's instructions. ASP knowledge is nice, but not required for the "installation" of most MODs.

Let me start of by saying thanks to the people who replied... Now I have read the readme file and it doesn't seem to hard for me but I may come up against some problems later on in which I am sure you would be able to answer... For instance if I wanted brinkster to host my forum on their general (free) plan how could I upload in ASCII since they dont allow FTP...

You can use the uploader available at Brinkster. It will upload the Snitz files without a problem.

Purelimit,
I have no programming experience at all and have implemented this forum.
It is not too hard, but what makes it easy is the fantastic help the moderators and administrators here will offer. Always start with a search first, as the topic has likely been asked many times before.

Good luck.

You'll also notice that many, many people here use Brinkster, so many folks here have a lot of experience with getting Snitz running on Brinkster. And yes, Snitz is essentially completely customizable. Check out the Hall of Fame to get an idea of what can be done with Snitz.
