I have the PM mod installed on a default forum. When I have a new PM, there is a gif showing that. When I don't have a new PM, I only have text for that ([b[You have 0 new private message.[/b]). This is on default.asp. That is with a default installation of the PM mod on a default forum. Have you added the gif for no new PMs yourself?

Oh umm, so it may be cause of whats in the default.asp? I did have to modify that one. Maybe I didn't do something right before. These are the files I uploaded.

icon_pmnomail.gif
icon_pmgotmail.gif
icon_newmes.gif

although, the last one I didn't add to the INC_ICONFILES.asp
But anyway the version Im using is pm 34-340301.

I checked the latest version for PM, and the only file that those icons are used in is inc_pm.asp. In that file, you can find these lines of text:

From inc_pm.asp:

#
'## Private Messages include to show if there are new PMs anywhere on your site
'## Private messages 3.4
'################################################################

Those images aren't used, unless you use that include-file.

I didn't mean that you don't have it, but I meant that it isn't used by any of the files included in the mod. You have to add that include-file yourself to a page where you want the Inbox to appear.

Oh ok! Ummm Im not sure how I would do that. You mean like add that on default.asp or something? To make it show up on the main forum page? LOL sorry, my mind isn't working right! :)

Thanks,
Kevin

You have already modified default.asp to show the inbox, if you have followed the instructions for the mod. inc_pm.asp will display the same part on other pages, say at the end of active.asp, if you include in the appropriate place on active.asp (or any other page that you want the inbox to be shown).

Im sorry Jan, for some reason I am really confussed now. I do see the text " you have 0 new messages" and "you have 1 new message" that is there and all, I was just wondering why instead of saying that, the pics wouldn't show up in place of the text instead. Sorry this has been going right over my head for some reason, Im trying to understand what you mean about the inc_pm.asp file. I will Try to look at it all again :)

Thanks,
Kevin

Lets say that you want to see the PM part at the bottom of default.asp on other pages, then you should use the inc_pm.asp in that page, for example in active.asp or in forum.asp.

inc_pm.asp is included in the mod so that it is easy to display that in other pages than the ones that are already modified.

Oh Ok I think I see what you mean on that now. :) I wasn't too concerned about the other pages though really. I was just wondering why on default page, why it said 1 new message, instead of showing that pic that said you have mail. I think or something like that. :)

Thanks :)
