I am desparate for a reply on this one so please dont move it to a quiet posting area moderator!
I want to correctly do all my meta tags: keywords, title and description so I get a good ranking on the search engines.
Where should I put them all and how exactly do I put them in?(if somebody could tell me a line number or something and the relevant file please) I am only familiar with putting them in HTML pages and not ASP. Presumabley I can put title, description and keywords in?
Also I heard that the spiders cant crawl ASP pages is that correct? If so should I just create a html page that is the very top page before enterring my forum and put all the tags in there?
Please advise and thanks in advance

Is this a Snitz related question? Also, AFAIK, there are no quite posting areas around. If this is not a Snitz related question, I will move it to the Community Discussions area, that gets plenty of posts and that's where it's meant to have posts non-Snitz related... |

Ruirib it is most definitely a Snitz question. If you know the answer please help. If you feel you need to move the topic please do put where I am likely to get a swift answer ( I have worked through the night twice with no sleep and am under a bit of pressure for this one!)
Thanks again

Description meta tag:
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Here goes your description">
Keywords:
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="keyword1, keyword2, ..., keywordn">
I guess title is automatically handled by Snitz. Regarding spiders crawling ASP pages, yes they crawl ASP pages. I would add these tags to inc_header.asp and that should do it.

Around line 95... Look for this:
'## START - REMOVAL, MODIFICATION OR CIRCUMVENTING THIS CODE WILL VIOLATE THE SNITZ FORUMS 2000 LICENSE AGREEMENT
Response.Write "<meta name=""copyright"" content=""This Forum code is Copyright (C) 2000-02 Michael Anderson, Pierre Gorissen, Huw Reddick and Richard Kinser, Non-Forum Related code is Copyright (C) " & strCopyright & """>" & vbNewline
'## END - REMOVAL, MODIFICATION OR CIRCUMVENTING THIS CODE WILL VIOLATE THE SNITZ FORUMS 2000 LICENSE AGREEMENT
Add your tags right under that. Liek this:
Response.Write "<META NAME=""description"" CONTENT=""Here goes your description"">" Response.Write "<META NAME=""keywords"" CONTENT=""keyword1, keyword2, ..., keywordn"">"
Cheers, CarKnee

Carknee should they not go just after the line
Response.Write "</head>" & vbNewLine & _
as I thought tags should be just after the head but your reply indicates just before?
Thanks Richard |

sorry to butt in but they won't work as expected on line 95.
Put them in just above line 277
( which should look like this: "</head>" & vbNewLine & _ )
To clarify slightly, the HTML created around line 95 is for the error page and (god-willing!) shouldn't show all that often! |

No I appreciate all the help I can get!
lines around 277 are "input.radio {background:" & strPopUpTableColor & ";color:#000000}" & vbNewLine & _ "-->" & vbNewLine & _ "</style>" & vbNewLine & _ "</head>" & vbNewLine & _ vbNewLine & _
Do I put the tags in just BEFORE or just AFTER the line with</head> please?
THanks Richard

Hello:
It takes much more than Meta Tags to get Good Search Engine Rankings. Not Many Search Engines Using it anymore.
There's a lot of work involved to Placing the Right Words into your Title & Description Meta Tags Most Important & then Last Your Keyword Meta Tag.
I have a Web Site that is Listed Number 1 on Most all Search Engines. But Once you get the People There to Your Forum, You Must Offer them Something to Insure The Most Sign Ups per visit.
What do you want a 1,000 Unique Visitors a Day & 5 to 10 Registrations a day or will 3 to 5 a week with a 1,000 Unique Visitors a day be OK. See there's a Big Difference, Again You must Know what you are Doing. I learned the Hard Way!
It would help if you had a Good Entrance Page Optimized for Search Engines. I started a Forum back in April & I only Target Lawn Service Business Owners, I have almost a 1,000 Members (991 last I looked). Try that, There's very Few Lawn Service Business owners on the Internet to Start with. It's Very Hard to Get the Audience. But it is Working well. But I offer lot of Stuff & a Free E-Book was Most Helpfull.
I have a #1 Listing on Google - AOL, Keywords (lawn service), 2 of the Most Important Search Engines out there.
