i dont know how to do this myself, but could there be a way to make a new user level called global moderator and allow them to have moderator access to the whole forum (or a whole forum group) at once?

and if we can do this could there also be a way to give them control over only a category?

either one would be VERY usefull

So I guess you'd need a category moderator, not a global one, right? I'm afraid there is no code to do that, but if your category has not that many forums, adding a "normal" moderator to each forum should be enough.

Yeah, I think this would be a good idea, too. In this way, a "global moderator" would be a sort of "sub-admin."

I've got so many forums (highest FORUM_ID is 71) that adding trusted folks to each, one by one, is rather tedious. Similarly, when I want to demote a moderator, I've got to go to each forum...

Would a simple fix be that in the Edit Category page, you would be able to assign a moderator just like in the Edit Forum page? Of course all the necessary back-end work would need to be done, but at least this is a starting point.

another reason category moderators would be nice is they could create delete or edit their own forums in the category...

and yeah a manager would be nice too :-P lol like new user level that would have access to everything ACCEPT admin control panel, thats basically what i want, and yes i do have lots of forums so its hard to assign people individually

Yes, that's one of the features that I would have loved to have seen in version 3.4 which was sadly overlooked. I'm sure it would have been easy to implement too, oh well. I have a Global Moderator on my version 3.3.03 site in as far as they're an Administrator who I trust not to click on the 'Admin Options' button!
