I'm not sure how many of y'all have played (or even like) the game "The Sims". But, Maxis is having a free play test (free if you download the software or you can pay shipping for the 2 CDs). The file is over 1 gig so it could take a while to download if you don't have a broadband connection.
from their website:
quote: How Much Does it Cost? Downloading the software from Fileplanet is FREE*. If you order the kit via mail, you'll need to pay the $5 shipping and handling costs for the two-CD set.
What Else Do I Need to Know? Before you sign up, there are a couple of things to be aware of. First, you will need a valid credit card to register and play. Second, The Sims Online is still being developed, so a lot of things may not work correctly. That's where you come in -- helping us find and polish the rough spots!
* Free for FilePlanet.com subscribers
I've been playing it since the 26th of last month. It's pretty fun if you like that sort of game. My wife likes it too, we have been playing on it together. |

How much does it cost per month once the full version is available? Has that been disclosed yet? From what you've said, it's free while testing, right? |

I did some more searching and I saw on a fan site that it will be $9.99 a month. Doh! |

Yes, they are asking too much (at least I think it's too much) per month once it becomes available via retail. It is free while testing though. I doubt I'll be playing once they start charging. It would be real hard to justify it. I do wish they would come out with a network version that you could play at home via a home network with your family and friends. That's the one thing thing that is missing from the regular "The Sims" games. |

Augh! Don't tell me things like this. It'll just suck away more sleep time.
I'm trying to stick to more productive pursuits like learning ASP/ASP.net. If I got into the game, my Sim would learn ASP before I did and have a cool house to boot.
Then again, we could have a Sims Online house for snitzers...

Maybe in about 18 months when no one is playing Sims Online I'll enter the game and loot the abandoned homes for everything I can get. Do they have police in TSO? Anyone want to join me? |

I never even fully understood the idea behind that game. It's always sounded a bit like those virtual animals in those eggs that you had to keep alive, except this is with virtual humans and on a PC... Maybe I'll take a look at it later, but I think I'd rather stick with Splinter Cell (site at xbox.com) for now. |

lol.. I doubt it. So far it's been a PC-only game, hasn't it? |

There is going to be a Playstation 2 version of the regular "The Sims" game. I doubt that "The Sims Online" will be available on a console, but you never know. |

Not to go away from the original topic, but I did want to show you this link: http://www.xobx.com/ I ran across it a while back when I tried to go to http://www.xbox.com/ but tried to type faster than my hands could cope with and made a typo
Oh yeah, to get back to topic: I can't find any information on The Sims being released on Xbox on the Xbox site... |
