Hello ZeroAvengerX & James!
I look Forward to anything that can be done, it is Very Close & I Appreciate all Your Efforts!
I know I'm Pushing my luck here but if I could make some Wishes it would be...
1. Have a Way for Members & Admin to Delete the Files.
2. Be able to put a Limit on the Number of Files members can Upload!
3. Of Course have a way the admin can view all Member Files & Images with a Click or...
4. On the Page "uploaded_myfiles.asp, fix it when they Click on the Button below the file thumbnail Image it Inserts all the text like it does now, except it does not reduce the File Size thus wipping out the Image in the folder.
This Mod is getting so close & I Thank both of you for All Your Effotrs! |
Thank You for Your Time!!!!! DJ5A |

Arne, that's what I was planning on adding next. I just have to make sure it's secure. Having someone find a way to look at your uploaded files is not that big a problem. Having someone figure out a way to delete them is.
Yes I know what you are talking about I am planning on using this as a standalone (not in conjuction with posting or anything, just as a menu option where members can see their own files). I tried a couple of ways to delete, but what I came up with was totally unsecure, where I could manipulate the URLs and delete everything. And that is not a such a good idea. LOL.

Right now, this mod doesn't require write permissions on a directory (Mike's file Upload Does). For the ability to delete, this mod will require write and delete permissions. It would use the FileSystemObject to delete files just as it does to read the directory. I'm just trying to make a way for it to pass the filename to a delete page securely and make sure that the file being deleted belongs to the person trying to delete it.

This is something that would have to be implemented in Mike's File Attachment mod. Basically, it would probably have to uses something like myfiles.asp to get file listing, make a count and then decided whether or not to allow the upload. |

I posted a solution re: the netscape problem in the main Mike's File Attachment posting. I hope it helps people - it works well for me. Check it out! |

OK, updated the file in the original post again (ver 1.03 now).
New features include tables for a more formatted look.
Thumbnails now are links (Admins see a "View Image" link) and there's a "View File" link for text files too.
Added a couple strings for the domain name and the uploads directory so it should be much easier to edit for that.
Few other minor changes.

ZeroAvengerX,
I am having the same problem as DJ5A. Your upload_myfiles.asp is a great feature idea, but the file gets corrupted on disk after re-inserting it the first time. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this? Thanks! |

This mod is now at Ver. 2.0
It allows you to reuse images and file links into your post from the upload window, lets you browse your upload directory with links and thumbnails and let's Admins view all upload directories. Included are two modified files from Mike's File Upload mod.
download at: http://www.snitzbitz.com/mods/details.asp?Version=All&mid=67
Also, you need to change the line you added to post.asp around line 1051 when you added Mike's File Upload to make "scrollbars=yes". This is added to the readme in ver 2.01 |

BTW, if you use Front Page on your site then it ads /_vti directories all over the place. If you don't want these to show on your Admin's File list, then change the block of code near the bottom of myfiles.asp that reads:
Set f = Fso.GetFolder(PathSpec)
if AdminAllowed then
Set fc = f.SubFolders
For Each Folder in fc
SubFolderName = "/" & Folder.Name
response.write "<BLOCKQUOTE>"
Call ScanFolders(PathSpec & "/" & Folder.Name)
response.write "</BLOCKQUOTE>"
Next
end if
to read:
Set f = Fso.GetFolder(PathSpec)
if AdminAllowed then
Set fc = f.SubFolders
For Each Folder in fc
SubFolderName = "/" & Folder.Name
if LCase(Mid(SubFolderName,1,5)) <> "/_vti" then
response.write "<BLOCKQUOTE>"
Call ScanFolders(PathSpec & "/" & Folder.Name)
response.write "</BLOCKQUOTE>"
end if
Next
end if
In ver. 2.01 just uncomment the two lines noted to make the changes.

As an admin I don't like to see all the pictures from everybody... I get mad if I see them all at once... I would like to see the pictures only from those I am viewing the profile from.
You could also use strForumUrl in myfiles.asp and getCurrentIcon(strIconPaperClip,"","") for the paperclip |

ErEf, I hadn't used it that way (viewing from other's profiles). As Admin, I just click my profile to get a listing of all the uploaded files.
To do it the way you want, you would have to change the code that's added to the profile page to add the view files link. You would have to pass the username of the person in the profile to myfiles.asp and then put a check at the bottom in the subfolder routine (similar to the check for _vti folders) and only let it run if the subfolder matches the name. |
