I too was intrigued by Contribute. I gave it a try and was unimpressed. In my opinion you'd be better off designing or buying a content management system, or even using Snitz with modifications. The one possible exception would be for those designers and/or projects which are reliant on Dreamweaver, but even then, I'd first look at building simple content management forms and use Contribute as a last resort. |

Jeff, the problem is that over here, most hosts use Unix servers. ASP is a no-no in that case, but for me the only option as I don't know PHP at all. And for people to get ASP hosting with reasonable space and the ability to use a database, they have to pay quite a lot more than they do outside of Holland. Therefore an ASP CMS is pretty much out of the question since we're talking about small sites with perhaps 6 pages max. If it wasn't for that, I'd have found a CMS-like solution a long time ago.
There are two problems besides that. First there's the 'client-friendlyness' part, or lack thereof, in saying "Do your own updates! I don't want to do them for you." And then there's the fact that most clients don't want to be bothered with doing updates themselves because they already have enough on their minds as it is.
Oh the horror of all these problems... |

So far, so good. Contribute is very user-friendly, easily configured and has adequate permissions/security features for most systems. Have yet to experience a problem - have not needed to access help files, etc. |

Is that from the admin's point of view, or from the client's point of view? Also, are you using a site made in DW with the use of a template, made in DW without a template, other software, or manually coded?
Oh yeah, is it worth the $99 they want for it? |

My comments were from the admin point-of-view. The site we've been collaborating on was written in Frontpage. Whether or not the program is worth the $99 is entirely subjective - depends on how much (or little) you need collaboration on a webpage. Based upon what I've seen here in Snitz, I'd say you don't need any help LOL. |
