just off the topic a bit...

does anyone know where i can download Fireworks and Flash versions 4 demo or full blown will suffice.

You can download the latest demo versions (Flash MX and Fireworks MX) from www.macromedia.com site.

Why would you need a copy of Flash that is now two versions old? You can create Flash v4 compatible animations within Flash MX by selecting the correct option when publishing your file.
