I know this question has been asked before (I've seen the posts) but I just want to be clear of what I'm doing with NT Groups as I cannot seem to get it working.
I have NT Authentication on and Autologon on and these are working fine. I've turned on the NT Groups today as I want to start using them but this is causing some problems.
My webserver is called MC05IMPA and this resides in the GLASGOW Domain. My PDC is called SCOTLAND and this is where all the Global Groups are stored.
Now I've set-up a forum and then I've set the Auth Type to NT Global Groups and I've set the password to the following:
\\SCOTLAND\MC ELLD E&I Div Head
Is this the correct syntax to use? \\%Domain%\%Global Group%
Do I need the Domain here?
I believe that the GG is case sensitve as well. Is it?
As I say, I can get logon to work fine but I'm not sure if I need to tweak anything else so that it picks up the correct Domain name?
How many Domains do you have on the same network accessed by the forum? I have one domain, and all i need to do to get the groups working is list the name of the groups separated by a comma. i have one forum that needs two global groups to have access to it, this is what i typed in the "Password" box: "CIT, CIT-SW" and the two groups CIT and CIT-SW were both granted access to that forum. They both however are on the same domain. I'm not sure how multiple domains would work.
Thanx for the comment. I have about 3 domains accessible locally (MC05IMPA [the webserver], GLASGOW [the local domain] & SCOTLAND [the primary domain]). The primary domain [SCOTLAND] is wher all the Global Groups are stored but I have the site stored on the webserver [MC05IMPA].
I don't have to do anything extra to pull in the usernames (they are also stored on SCOTLAND) so I'll try and enter the Global Groups without the domain and see whathappens.
