Will you use the site for only your forums, or are you going to put a site up there too? If you're only going to use forums, I'd suggest dumping all files in the web root and the database in the database directory. If you're planning on making it into a real site, you should create a directory in the web root (call it whatever you want) and dump the files there. (Database in the database directory of course). |

Right let me try and put this in a languige I understand.
When you say. "Will you use the site for only your forums, or are you going to put a site up there too?If you're only going to use forums, I'd suggest dumping all files in the web root". Do you mean, copy all my forum folder into the www. folder in my ftp program. Except anything in there thats got database in it, and that should go in the DB folder in my ftp program? Is that what you mean and if its not can you explain it in detail like that. PLEASE |

Theres books you can buy still that do that ... they're called Dictionary's I think
The database is the .mdb file
Lets go through that piece by piece.
Do you want to put others pages on your website besides Snitz Forums ?
If Yes then
Using your FTP Program, create a new direcotry and call it 'forum'
Upload Snitz into this new forum directory (after changing config.asp)
else
Upload the files to the root of your website
If you are going to use the Database supplied with Snitz then
Upload the database into your "DB" Folder (normally one pre-created for you by host)

mirage, I know this could be taken the wrong way, but I think it will help you if you can answer these questions :
- how old are you ? - how long have you been using the net ? - how much computer experience do you have ? - what sort of computer have you got ?
PLEASE don't this the wrong way, but I think it will help us all phrase things for you properly. |

The root of your website is just like the root of your C:\ Drive on your PC, its the very topmost level of your directory structure
e.g
C:\ <---- This is the root of your HardDrive
C:\Windows\ <---- This is a Directory
C:\Windows\System32\ <---- This is a subdirectory

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually. Your right though there is a lot of jargon in the computing industry and it does take a while to work out what it all means. I've been using computers since I was about 9 or 10 years old (thats over 20 years) and theres still things that get me stumped as well. |
