I'm guilty, however, I am normally a person that works at a faster pace than others in my department to make up for it and although it is still not right, I find myself spending an accumulated time of anywhere from 1 to 2 hours surfing the net out of my 10 hour day, but not everyday... anyway, how many of you surf the net at work for NON work related stuff?
btw, message to my boss... please don't fire me |

At work we don't have a router and no way of sending email to eachother through the network, so I'm the one who's always online and handles all emails. I also keep track of software updates and all that, but I do spend some time checking my own email and sites while I'm doing those business related things.
When things are quiet and I have a couple free minutes I usually check my mail again and reply to those emails that require it, but I haven't had a whole lot of time for that lately. The good part about this is that I can say I'm doing research or trying to get "inspiration" when I'm checking out sites
Oh, but I don't play any computer games at work though. Not even solitaire |

Research is generally the excuse I use ;) I tend to visit Snitz to satisfy my surfing urge and read up on some informative threads that in turn could benefit some of the projects I am doing at work. See how telling yourself a lie over and over can make you believe its okay |

It doesn't matter how good of employee you are, or how much you surf the net or not... eventually you'll get laid off anyway. |

Well, as someone who has access to web stats, the definitive answer to the question would be pretty much everyone who surfs the net does most of it while at work, at least according to the weblogs anyway
Personally I spend most of my time on the net in some form or another. |

I, along with 1250 colleagues, have just been handed a 90 day consultation period, with the result being redundancy.
I am currently surfing every moment I am in work. |

I always have Snitz running up on my second monitor so I can check it whilst I work. I don't tend to surf elsewhere outside of my lunch hour much though. |

I'm guess I'm fairly lucky, working on a response desk... They have no probs with me surfing, so long as it's "vaguely" work related. Snitz (being ASP falls into that group) ...

I pop into snitz regularly during the day, but genearlly stay away from even less work-related sites during core hours.
My bandwidth usage is by far the highest in the company at the moment, but I can palm most of that off on the huge data up-and-downloads I do for core business, thankfully! |

You mean I wasn't hired to browse the Internet?!
Sometimes I get accused by my friends of getting nothing done at work because I show them things I find in forums like this. They say, "Is this what you do all day?" as if I look for that stuff all day long.
Like this one.... http://www.ebaumsworld.com/peanutbutter.html
I'm on Snitz several times during the day but I'm in charge our company's web site so I look at is as research. For personal things, I'm on for an hour or so but I do some work from home so I make up for it. |

I used to spend at least 1-3 hour a day, but lately I have been to busy. I haven't posted here in a while.
I now have 2 monitors. My flat screen on dsl for all my non-work stuff, and the other on the lan for official business only.
I'm reorganizing my day to make more time for important stuff, like this, posting at Snitz and realizing my goal of having a higher post count than richard. |

I'm online at work all day. I spend a fair amount of time surfing, but it's mostly job-related--attending my own forum, checking out Snitz and other sites, checking and answering email, etc.
Part of the reason I do things not directly related to work is to relieve some of the stress or boredom of the tedious work.
But I'm my own boss. So the only person I hurt by wasting time is myself. |

You'll get there if you stick to it... you'll have to be able to get a higher post count that Richard's current one |

I get to surf online during my lunch break and after work is over. Just as long as it doesn't interfer with my work, I can use the net. Since I am actually working with computers at work, not too much of a problem. |
