anyone know if there is a script that can extract topics to a news.asp, from a news forum.
so that the users of the forum can post news on a website frontpage. and can reply comments. |

I have just the thing yuor lokoing for, well not me Personally, but i've implemented the exact same thing.
if you look at my website.
http://www.shadowknights.com/skforum/home.asp
I've set it up to pull topics directly from a specific ForumID and display them accordingly.
The MOD that you need in the 'Content Display' Mod
This has everything you need to get you up and running.
hope this helps. |

The Content Display MOD will do all this and more.
Basically, you can create yoru asp page, wether it be /forum/home.asp or root/news.asp however you like. i.e. create a formatted html/asp page, with tables formatted text etc etc etc and pull in the news you want where-ever you want it to display on the page.
Again, if you look at my home page, you will see that i have included this mod to display the news in a seperate table, and the latest topics in a table below that.
The Content Display mod is designed so that you can pull information from any forum you like, and have it displayed however you like.
Lets say that yuo create a forum called NEWS, and that forum has an ID of 13.
Within your NEWS.ASP page, you would put in this command where you want it to display
(Tis is not an exact command, but when you download the Content MOD, you will see what i mean)
<content.asp,1,13,5,200,50,article.asp,"100%",4>
1, Specifies that you want to display topics from a specific ForumID 13, Is the ID of the Forum 5, Is the number of topics you want it to display 200, is the number of characters you want to be able to see in the message 50, is the number of Characters you want to see in the Subject Article.asp, is part of the Contect Display Mod "100%", is the width you want to display it at, This is handy if you include this in a html table 4, is How you want to display it, i.e. Formatting.
It might look complicated, but trust me, it's one of the easiest MODS i've ever implemented. And it's a great one at that.
If yu need any help, i would be more than glad to offer it.

You have done something very, very strange to your forum to get such an error.
