If the refresh timeout is set to anything greater than 10 minutes, the page becomes useless because the session times out and the active page then displays topics since the page was loaded - i.e. nothing (presumably because the logon process occurs again resetting the time of last logon).

haven't had chance to test this, I don't see what the session timing out would affect it since your login info is in a cookie.
I will run some test on my wifes machine

Update.
15 min refresh works OK, trying 30 min
2nd Update

I was going to add, after subsequent 30 min refreshes it does in fact reset your last login time.
I would guess (.)z assumption is correct, I would assume that Tim has not changed the app info for the web site and it therfore set to it's default of 20 mins, which would be why the half our one resets your login

simplicity itself, you could set the time out to whetever you want
<% srvSessionTimeout = Session.Timeout %>

Perhaps then, in active.asp, set the session timeout to a bit higher than the maximum refresh time.
Do we (you) understand why it behaves this way?
Where is the time of last visit held?
I guess I could go look in the code, but I am feeling lazy

fixed in source of sf2k_31sr5a4.zip
Huw, I opted to remove the 30 minute refresh option all together due to the fact that the server.timeout option takes server resources for each user... could end up being more than we want to chew :) so in the intrest of performance... its now 0, 1, 5, 10, 15
