I have experienced time out's on the edit & upload pages a lot. Anyone have a clue as to why these pages appear to cause the server to bog down?

Also I have come across what appears to be another bug. I have Run in single album mode, Force Administrator aproval of all photos, and Show Thumbnails on Category headings all set to YES. Problem is after approving & setting a pic for the CAT thumb, if a member (other than admin) uploads a new photo into that CAT, the CAT thumb gets set to not visible.

To make matters more confusing - I have another member setup with Admin priveledges... who can also create CAT's.

I have tried 3 times so far to install this mod on my server for my site: Lymphomaniacs.

When I tell the MOD to create albums for all users it pretty much locks up my server and I have to reboot it.

My permissions are set correctly for the folder and I am not using NCONVERT feature.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Shannon

I have one of the same problems I see reoccuring for several people but I am still unclear what the problem/solution is. I was getting the uploading error message and so I emailed my provider to turn on read/write priveleges for folder. That fixed the first error in the troubleshooting section. I now get the "this is a test" message. But when I try to upload from the troubleshooting area I get this message:

exact path to file: /photos
Write to file failed. No Errors detected, If you are still haveing problems please send me an email to Wesley Brown
File has been saved in file system.

View this file:

THEN..... I click on the pic link and the link is filled with %20 all the way across the browser address bar. Its adding spaces somewhere somehow. Any ideas on the first problem...or the second??

Just a comment. There is a problem to create tables when running the photo album setup asp for Access 97 database. There are only two error messages regards creating tables. I checked the access table. It were ALBUM and ALBUM_CAT which were not created. There is no problem creating other tables. I manually created the two tables myselft. Deleted the ALBUM_CONFIG table and rerun the setup program again. And it works fine.

It is a very good mod. Thanks.

Another observation. When you run photo_album_view.asp to view images. You can only display big images in IE not Netscape. I don't know why?

** NEW PROBLEM **

At least I haven't seen it mentioned before. SOME of my users, when editing their photo album, don't have their photo's appear on the edit page. Everything else does, and the edits are properly carried out, but the photo doesn't show. Other users - no problem.

When I check properties of the photo, it turns out that the photo directory (i.e., member name) is empty in the path to the photo, which is why it is not showing. Anyone know what circumstances can cause this to happen? I haven't pinned it down precisely, but I have a test account that is guaranteed to demonstrate the problem:

Forums: http://forums.deniseaustin.com
Userid: testUser3
Password: bugtest

After logging on, scroll to the bottom of default.asp to find the link to the photo album. Then try to edit either of the two photos. Once you get to the details page, the image is no longer present, and if you hover over the image and right-click to select properties, you will see that the testUser3 directory is missing from the image path.

It's a wasted day if you don't spend at least part of it flying upside down.

This is a great MOD and I was happy to take part in another (version of an) Album Mod.

schef, I had the same "issue" as you and to show only users with photos in their albums but let all users HAVE albums, I changed photo_album.asp and created a view. Of course, I use SQL Server. I don't think this will work in many other DB, but I would not know either.

The view goes like this:

SELECT MEMBER_ID, M_NAME FROM dbo.FORUM_ALBUM_USERS WHERE (MEMBER_ID IN (SELECT DISTINCT MEMBER_ID FROM FORUM_ALBUM))

Then in photo_album.asp, line 171, just change the table for the view you created. My view is called ALBUM_USERS_ACTIVE.

Hope this helps

Cheers!

I tried putting the following variations:

" <LI><a href="admin_album.asp">Photo Album Administration</a></LI>" & vbNewLine & _

" <LI><a href="admin_album.asp">Photo Album Administration</a></LI>" & _

" <LI><a href="admin_album.asp">Photo Album Administration</a></LI>" &_

Still came up with the same error.

classa, just change the two quotes around admin_album.asp to two double quotes. This is ASP and one quote is interpreted literally. Two quotes are not:

" <LI><a href=""admin_album.asp"">Photo Album Administration</a></LI>" &_

Cheers!

I guess i can not be the only one that haven't been there from the beginning?

Where can i DL this?

A good idea is to start by reading the README file. The instructions are normally there. There is no DBS file for the photo album. You user a setup script. Read the instructions and I'm sure you will find it.

Cheers!

Hi, I'm hosting my forum on brinkster and all is fine.
I'm having trouble setting the "Root file directory" . I have placed my album folder in the db folder so write permissions are ok, but can't seem to point the "root file dir" in the admin page to it? Can anyone who is hosting their forum with this mod on brinkster help me please?
