I have made a MOD for UK users of Snitz so that their members can select Counties instead of States to show in their profiles.
It also includes a slight modification to the inc_countrylist.asp file in order to be a little bit more specific about the part of the United Kingdom they are in.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being hard it has to be 1

| Cool, all i am goin to do is add states to it as well, so it will name the counties then have a line and name the states Coz the forum i am doin will have alot of members from both the Uk and the States, all i need now is someone's statelist, anyone have one? |

Hmm, what about making a mod where the admin can enter conties or states (Extra)
A sample: I live in Denmark, in a Amt (State) Aarhus Amt, and a city named Silkeborg |

its easy enough to modify. change the uk_counties.asp to list the states in denmark, but leave the title in profile as State.
what we need is this:
the user clicks on the country, eg "UK". then up pops a list of UK counties. or the user clicks on country "Denmark", and up pops a list of Danish states. etc of course, you would need a database with every country and every state/county in those countries... which would be huge...  |

I've added an extra zip file now for the US States and that can be downloaded from HERE
This will add a drop down list of US states for your members to pick from in their profile.
For other countries just alter the names of the states in the inc_usstates.asp file and follow the same instructions in the note file.
It should be possible to do as you suggested, al_iguana, with enough country's states/counties in seperate files and using a pop-up window to display the choices for the country chosen. The state could then be picked from the pop-up and placed into the profile - how to do it though is a little beyond me time and knowledge wise
..... any takers ??

I think that the most important thing to have in this Mod is that it only shows the US states when a person checks USA from the country dropdown.
It only needs some javascript modifications.

You might want to consider consolidating these states, counties, providences, etc into one file then select the appropriate list based on country selection.
Btw, the inc_usstateslist.asp file I downloaded had some extra stuff on the bottom. I don't know if it got corrupted or if it was saved that way, but it seems to work fine after deleting the extra stuff. Also, are you sure the list is correct? I didn't know Guam was a state. Must be a new one.
