So do it in your forums. You do not need anyone's permission to do so. I do agree that the difference between size limitation in the code and in the database should be removed.
I thought another reason for this is how some characters are entered into the database. For example, those people that need to put punction all over the place like & and ". So there needs to be some difference so you don't get an error. Sorry if I'm mistaken.
