instead of a text area and buttons that add [] code to your text, buttons that actually format the text real time. Meaning when you select text and click the bold button the text actually turns to bold.
I've seen this on the net already, but it is in a private forum so I can't add a link. from the source I've seen it has somthing to do with Iframes (which may cause some problem to non IE browsers).

There is a MOD for this, the RTE mod. I'm not sure if it's v3.4 upgraded yet tho.

It's not ... and to my knowledge Nathan isn't intending to do so either, due to security risks...
Nathan, I'm sure will correct me if I'm wrong |

What do you mean , how can this editor risk my forum? I already included it into my forum and turned HTML on!

And that's where the problem lies: HTML in forums can mean a security risk and people can mess up the look of your forums when they don't use tags correctly. |

I see your point. But that's not a security risk , it might impair the looks of one page (the one displaying the replies to one post) . I can live with that , especially when I get in return such a comfortable interface.
Besides , if that's the only problem then I can seiously minimize it by removing from the post all HTML tags except those that are supported by the new interface , right? |
