Hello Everyone,
How are you all? I am panicking right now as last night the forum I used to post on -The Crown Prince of Denmark forum by Snitz got deleted completely.I found this out as I was just over there ten minutes ago to see if I can retrieve my old posts to add onto my new forum and the message was that their system could have been hacked or the ASP-Dev might have deleted all their files. Is this possible? I hope it never happens to me as posts are great for referring to if you have forgotten something. How can I prevent this from happening? Thank you so much everyone for your advice and help on this matter.
Wii, I do agree that it is so lovely this support forum. The people here are so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I'm just very nervous as I'm not computer literate. Its a real pleasure visiting these boards and I don't feel so stupid asking stupid questions. |

Wii,
I really like your little dancing figure and it is so cute. How did you manage to set it up? |

Lorissa, the only way to prevent this from happening is by changing the password of the users that have been made administrator (that includes the default admin account!) It's quite possible that someone simply tried the default username and password and got logged on. |

People running the latest version of the forums as you are Les, shouldn't have anything to worry about with malicous users hacking the message boards. The latest version had a lot of time invested into making it as secure as the Developers possibly could. |

Hey FrutZle, Wii, Gremlin, everyone.
How are you all? Frutzle and Gremlin, thanks so much for your advice. FrutZle, I will ask the other two to change their passwords. Gremlin, I hope you are right about the new forums being harder to hack. I logged on this morning and I have several others e-mail me and mentioned that they can't get into my forum and that the page keeps on displaying - "This page cannot be displayed" so I am keeping my fingers crossed to see that my new forum is still there by the end of the day. Thats all I can wish for everyday, that I wake up and log on my new forum and it is still there and o.k.
When I visit forums now I really appreciate the hardwork that the people have done, the time and energy spent creating something beautiful for others to enjoy, read and use. My road to creating this new project has been rough and a real challenge for me.
With great advice and quick replies from FrutZle and others on this thread - I was able to get everything set-up quickly. I hope that I am not overdoing my appreciation, but thats just my personality. I am quite shocking and takes ages to get used to me as I say exactly what I am thinking. When someone helps me I really apprecaite it with all my heart and just grateful that someone cares. I bid you all a lovely day. sending lots of smiles and thank you's. |

Hey Gremlin,
How are you? Thanks so much for the words of comfort. As many Australians say "I'm rooting" or cheering on the Warriors.
P.S Apologies everyone - Les is my initials, I didn't want to post my name here as I wasn't sure how people would react to my questions so I felt very shy. Have a nice day everyone!!!! |

Gremlin, Lorissa is using an ASP-DEV forum which is defenately not the latest version and is therefore open for hacks unless I've missed something and ASP-DEV doesn't update the version number. But seeing how all email addresses are public it can't be a version 3.4.xx forum. |

Hey frutZle,
How are you? Thanks so much for watching my back and for the support and excellent advice. Is there any way that I can update to the latest one? If yes, then I will definitely be interested in doing this. Thank you in advance. Have fun and take care! |

You'll have to contact your host about upgrading. I don't know if they somehow fixed all bugs or are planning on upgrading the forums they host. Can't help you with that. |
