I have put on linens my forum and have shaped "the email Validation" (with Require Logon for sending Mail). Initially all OK has gone, after some other test has not been possible to register new members because it does not come sent no email and the registration page is blocked, (however the members remains in Pending). I have cancelled all the members but although that the continuous system notify me that there are 6 members! Now I wanted to cancel all and to re-up my Forum from the beginning.
- Update Forum Count does not resolve it.
- Close Forum does not resolve it
- Compact Database does not resolve it for this error:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively by user 'Admin' on machine 'WEBS53'. Try again when the database is available.
/forums/admin_compactdb.asp, line 108

Unfortunately but the file "snitz_forum_2000.mdb" do not come cancelled (are also relative the rows "ldb"). I ask as to make to you kindly to eliminate the file snitz_forum_2000.mdb from my server for being able to newly replace the files on the server.
Thanks a lot and sorry for my english.
Michele

Why don't you try to get your email server configuration correct? I don't see how doing what you want to do will bring any advantages. If you have a problem with configuration, them post here about the way you have it configured now so that we can help you fix it.

How do you want to have email working without specifying an email server address? You need to specify one. If you don't know what is the server address, ask your host. You'll also need to specify the administrator email address. Make sure it's a valid one too.

E-mail Server address is specified correctly (smtp.mydomain.com)
The e-mail notification previously all good worked The function worked good...

Anyway, my real problem is the following:
The database ".mdb" file is already opened exclusively by user 'Admin' on machine 'WEBS53' (because ".ldb" file is present).
Can I CLOSE this database in some way?
I wish to DELETE "mbd" and "ldb" files.
Now I hope to me it are explained correctly.
Thanks.

You won't be able to delete the files while someone is using the database. After making sure noone is using it, the .ldb file will be automatically deleted by Access.

You can manually delete the .ldb file. If there is no forum activity it won't be recreated. Then you should have no problem replacing the .mdb file.
