Hi all, I installed KB's Poll mod on my local machine and it was working fine, So i thought make it live. I uploaded the files, and the problem is in Topic.asp it does'nt shows the Poll even if topic has poll, but in my local machine it still is working perfect.
Also online the Featured polls shows up, but don't know why in topic.asp nobody cna see poll :(
You can check on http://www.janubaba.com/forums/ click on active polls and check any poll, they have poll but does'nt shows up even if you add new poll still same :(
Can anybody tell me what can be the problem ? |

KB, converted my poll mod from the 3.3.03 version to 3.4.02 version.
I won't be supporting his version and it doesn't seem KB is anywhere around to support it. My new version of the poll mod, with lots of bug fixes and new features will be released hopefully for the 3.4.03 version. |

Will the poll version you are working on for 3.4.03 be suitable for 3.4.00 as I have already applied mods like active users, avatars etc to it and don't want to upgrade again and have to do all this work again.
I have also tried using the poll mod that is posted on the exchange for 3.4.02 and have had similar problems, the poll doesn't show in the topic.
This has been a massive waste of time, since I also tried the other one that was on there a few days ago for 3.4.01 and that does the same.
It would be a good idea to have an area of mods that are tried and tested to save people wasting time cuting and pasting code that doesn't work. |

ClanRegister, I don't know. I haven't got my hands dirty with modifying the 3.4 version with mods. But I guess if you only copy and paste the code that you should be ok. But don't take my word for it.
I have nothing to do with KB's version of the poll mod. User's install that at thier own risk, with no support, since I haven't seen KB answering anyone's queries concerning it. |

Ok...perhaps a stamp of somekind, like official mod or approved and tested might be in order.
When will your poll mod be available? |

One more thing I've discovered about this POLL MOD (actually one of my users pointed it out to me) is that a single user can vote endlessly with this MOD. Worst yet, after voting, going to view results and clicking refresh over and over again increments the vote every click.
BUUUUGGGYY!
Now, i'm gonna have to pluck all my changes or restore the files i've had previously. I guess this is a classic example of 'INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK.'

I am going to get that mod withdrawn if a lot of users can't get it working. This will just give my poll mod and the support I give a bad name, when I release it. |

I read somewhere, I think on your own site that you were thinking of implementing an option to put the poll in a popup.
Would it be possible to access, isolation and display a poll in another page outside of the forums?
I would like to incorporate polls using the mod if possible on the front page of my site. |

It is possible. Just would need some tweaking. I have placed the featured poll on the front page into an include file. So you can use it on other pages with some editing of the tables to fit into your site. |

Great, I look forward to the release of the official poll mod!
Small point, and not really related to this thread, but who controls the snitz versions and releases...its seems theres a new release available for download every week.
Surely it would have been better to wrap up all the loose ends and hold off the release...I upgraded my forums to 3.4, I have applied lots of mods and will not do it again, but I would have liked to have used one which didn't have quite so many issues. |

Richard kinser does. We decided to release the upgrades each weekend until we reach a stable release, because a few users were reporting bugs in the code. Usually minor bugs, but still bugs. |

I would like to say sorry for that.. I'll look into the stuff thats been reported, strange thing is it was working fine on my IIS and my brinkster forum. The only reason i uploaded it was that i had i stable and working on those two.
Anyway..im off to look at the source again.
(Just my luck they release the UT2003 Demo while i was on hol..everybody got a two week head start on me ) |
