Has someone ever written a mod that shows the summary (kind of like what's new?) of all newly posted messages?
As a user, I'd like to have the ability to instantly see the latest messages posted out there without having to dig for them from each category. A good example of this can be found on www2.communityzero.com. At the right side of the view, they show all new messages posted by the user community.
Let me know if someone's actually done this.
thanks much!

Active Topics lists all new messages since last visit. How is it different from what you want? I have not looked at the page you suggested but active topics are categorized according to Categories/Forums. |

yeah... active topics is a good start. however, the user still has to click, open, and scroll down the topic to view it. what i'm suggesting is an actual view of all messages themselves inside a rectangular box to the left, right, or bottom of the screen. |

You will always have to click to open a topic so I'll ignore that part. Going to a seperate page to see what topics have been changed since your last visit isn't bad, and it gives you a good overview. Putting the information from active.asp on any other page would slow those pages down and stretch them a lot if you're on an active forum. As for scrolling down to the new post: there's a "jump to last post" option in 3.4.xx which will take away the need to scroll down. |

Please have a look at the forum format (it's a ComZero snapshot) below. See how the "Noteboard" section summarizes all new posts entered? This is what I meant by my previous posts. All new posts are summarized in a box readily viewable upon getting into the forum. It just makes browsing for new posts (without having to click on specific topics to view), so much easier. Don't you think so? This is the primary reason why I'm having a tough time getting my members (from the other forum) to switch to Snitz -- though clearly, Snitz have so much more to offer in terms of modularity.
