I cannot believe that I would have to make this post, but it seams that someone has decided to use my domain to spread emails with saspicous attachments.
The email address mods@ls3k.com has never been used by me, if you recieve any emails from it, don't open them. |

| I've gotten used to emails containing a virus (Klez seems to be hot again) and I block people who send me a virus twice. If I get those kinds of emails from different aliasses on the same domain, I block the entire domain, or I block entire TLDs as I did with .TW domains after having received 30 spam mails in jibberish in less than a week. |

Somebody is sending me a virus all the time. My Hotmail is getting full everyday, and sometimes I can't receive normal emails because of big virus file someone is sending me. The worst thing is that the from-field is containing my friends email. I can't block my friend.. but that 313 kb virus is comming all the time, from different email addresses.
And I can't stop it! |

Interesting, I just got fan mail from myself. From one of my email account to another. Both of which I've advertised here. These emails have some attachments.. hm, and what do we have here? some .mim files, .scr file, and .bat file and if I open them.. garbage. Thank goodness I have a MAC to open this up on. Must've been a fan of my ban ip MOD because I see part of the banned page included in the files.
I assume either someone is having problems setting up the MOD or we have one pissed off person who was banned from someones site.

No prob :) Two letter top level domains are assigned worldwide, each one is given to a particular country. Some of these countries have opted to sell sites on their domain worldwide. For example, out here in Los Angeles there have been ads for the .la domain. Of course, .la is Laos, and if you purchase a .la domain you are directly supporting one of the last remaining communist countries in the world. .tw happens to be Taiwan.

Thankfully (knock on wood) I get very few viri in the e-mails. But I do get between 5 and 20 spams a day at home and about an average of 5 a day at work. I'm using MS Outlook to control them (move them to delete) but it doesn't do a very good job. I suspect I'm going to have to break down in the next couple of weeks and buy something to kill the garbage. It is a pain wading through the e-mails to determine what is good and what is bad. I need something accurate. And, according to published reports, it is going to get significantly worse. How stupid can companies be! Why would I buy from someone so despate that they have to spam people to buy their product. And, secondly, hide their e-mail address. That gives me a lot of confidence in them! DUH! And I've seen it coming from big, reputable companies in the last few weeks.
Wouldn't it be nice if those who make a virus could channel their energies into creating peace, feeding hungry people, and doing other deeds of good. Is tht too much to hope for?

I think we're probably the poorest country out there since we practically owe about everyone and yet that side of the world is in the positive. -trillions vs +trillions.

I've noticed SpamNet has gotten rid of a couple of viruses from my inbox along with some other junk. I'm not recommending it as a solution, but as some help. Either way, to MichaelA, I've really gotten rid of most of my spam with it, you should check it out.

Hey no fair, we don't have that. But speaking of that, maybe Texas should have their own. Afterall, the 'Lone Star State' is practically their own country anyway right? Like the old saying 'Don't mess with Texas.'

You feel good about them having your addresses and their program going through your e-mail? I'm very skeptical about these things. I don't trust spammers. It would be like them to come up with a tactic like this.
Is this company going to start charging when the beta is over?
I just went and looked at their web site. Interesting. I might just do it.

From what I can tell, it trys to recognize from lines and subject lines mostly. It acts as some add-ons for my filters, and yes, reports back bad headers (and only bad headers, or good headers seen as bad - supposedly). Am I 100% sure of their benevolence? No. I'm taking the risk right now, but I think if they're up to anything, someone will figure it out relatively quickly and I'll know to get rid of it. I don't deny the risk, but as of know, it's working great. If it's a tactic, my ignorance is bliss at the moment. |
