Hi,

I'm upgrading my forum from 3.3.05 to 3.4.01. I have modified inc_top.asp in 3.3.05 to include a left navigation bar and a header, and modified inc_footer.asp to include a footer. I'm looking at inc_header.asp in 3.4.01 and can't figure out where I need to insert my left navbar and header HTML. Can anyone help? I haven't looked at inc_footer.asp yet to see if it's different but I have suspicions that it is. (In case you need to look at my forum, one of the three I will be upgrading is at http://www.businessknowhow.com/forum/ )

I did do a search before posting and don't see where this has been answered about the current version. Hope I didn't miss it somewhere. :)

Thanks!!!!!

Lisa

I made a mod for this here:

http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33757

Might be useful in locating the areas to insert the code.

UPDATE:

I have tried to install D3mon's mod, but my forum quits working altogether. I am not an ASP expert by any means, but I did follow the instructions very carefully.

Does anyone know where in inc_header.asp and inc_footer.asp I need to insert my top navbar, left navbar, and bottom navbar? Some kind soul had it all figured out for 3.3.04 so all I had to do was search for particular code snippets and insert my HTML immediately afterwards. I wish I could figure it out on my own, but honestly, I wouldn't even qualify as an ASP novice. I am pretty good at following directions, though. :D

Sorry to hear you had trouble with the MOD. What happened exactly?
We had some problems with the early versions of the MOD, but it is currently working well.
Maybe I can help get it working?

Well, when I first edited inc_header.asp, it gave me an ASP error (don't have it handy now). I proceeded anyway and made the 2nd change to inc_header.asp and got an even more ominous asp error. I decided that maybe I needed to implement ALL the changes to ALL the files before checking the forum (LOL), so I started fresh from clean copies and made all the changes to all the files. Then when I tried to load my forum, it brought up the IE default "page unavailable" error message. :( If you'd really like to help me get it working, I'll set up a copy of 3.4.01 in another directory and implement the changes step by step so we can go through each error message. I sure would appreciate the help!!

Many people have had some trouble following my readme's which unfortunately a little complex.
Forutately I've updated the files in the MOD to make them splendidly easy to follow. Try downloading the latest version of the mod and installing that one on a clean set up.
Email me if you have any probs and I'll try to help.
