Right now, the administrator can set a users title, so it's not following the ranking system.
How do i change the code so the users will be able to change their title on their own?
I'm using v. 3.4.01
Thanks in advance!

Allowing the users to change their title may not be a good idea. Instead you can give your user to have Alias. That will need some modifications and changes to the code and DB. There is a Mod for this. Search the Forums. |

I didn't find anything when searching for alias and 3.4. Could anyone help me with this?
Why don't you see it as a good idea to have the members write their own title?
I don't have any "freaky" users at my site, so i don't see the problem, i'm afraid. |

OK, point taken - but it IS people i know, and people who know the moderator actually is (and so on).
The members just want to call themselves stupid things
I see your point, but i also see a nice addon to the forum
Well, if anyone has got an answer to this, i would be very happy! |

If I remember right, you can disallow specified usernames with a filter. Seems like that filter could be used in this application also.

You could just add another field that would show underneath the current title and allow users to modify it. I've done it before (on an earlier version), it's really pretty easy. (add the field to the database, edit inc_profile.asp to add the section where the user can enter the data, edit pop_profile.asp so that the form data will be updated in the database, and then edit topic.asp so that the new title field will show in each message). You could even tie it in with the post count, or the amount of time a person has been registered on your forum. A person only gets that option after so many posts, or after being a member for a certain amount of time. |

@ajhvdb I've installed the Avatar MOD (just so they can look stupid ), but thay want more, those hungry beasts
@alex Yes, but that will only function with usernames - not titles as far as i know.
@Richard I feared that answer The new code for 3.4.01 is pretty hard to read (i'm not a hardcore ASP-programmer) and edit manually, so i figured if someone got an answer how to make users also able to edit their title (i really dont care what they write) in a simple way, i would be very pleased...
I think it's something about checking for mlev=4 changed to >0 but, i really dont know... |

Add another field as Richard Suggested. That is easiest option. |

what we need is a shop mod so we earn snitz dollars for each post and when they get so high they can spend them on a title or avatar. |
Thanks
