GPC -
I've done exactly as you told me the first time - and it still isn't working. I have a user with IP address (let's say) 187.4.87.213 ... and in IP Gate, I put the user's ban as 187.4. -- but that banned user is still able to infultrate the forum.
Any suggestions?

that is how you do ranges with the changes I made in the RC version.
The way you are wanting to do range baning never really worked well, even in the .8 ver betas, enough which is the reason I made change to the mod to do subnet baning instead. If you make the necessary changes and insert the files correct the subnet baning does work.

Post your setting so I can check code with the settings you are using.
Edit: Be sure to ban their username as well.
The mod checks for usernames first and bypass ipbanning if a username is not found in db, since the user is logged in, it is skipping the ip check. ban their username, if they log out to try and register again, their ip address will get blocked afterwards.
This is still some of the documentation that needs to be done. |

If I understand the system correctly, you need to have Username and IP bannings as SEPARATE lines. If you have a Username AND IP ban in the same line, you will only get the Username ban and the IP will be ignored... I *could* be wrong, however. |

Alright there,
I've just installed this mod..it all seemed very simple! When I try to use "IPGate Configuration" all I get is the following;

gpctexas.... I have been using your ip gate for a while now and I just want tell you that it works flawlessly! I love it!
One question.... Can I enter more than one page key per ban ? |
Here is a link to my Snitz powered Drag Racing site. |

Unfortunately not at this time. Right now to ban more than one page you need to make a separate entry for each page.
I have plans on reworking part of the admin page and adding another table that contains a list of pages that automatically get blocked. This would esentially deny access to any page listed in that table and would be the answer to your question. The admin page is also getting a banning wizard to help setup ban correctly. I already have the majority or the inc_ipgate.asp file flowcharted for the changes and optimozed the code a little better. I will start coding them probably this weekend. Another change is where usernames won't take prioity over ips so ipbanning will work correctly. |

up for testing, the 2.1 ver of inc_ipgate.asp
Requirements: Ver 2 inc_ipgate.asp and Ver 2 of admin_ipgate.asp the <!--#INCLUDE FILE="inc_ipgate.asp"--> is the last thing you see in inc_header.asp (Important step to prevent admin bans and accident ipaddress bans so that person can log in)
download http://www.gpctexas.net/dbs_ipgate_20-21ud.txt change .txt to asp and run mod setup.
This adds new fields to tables to support the next stage of the mod. This also adds the table needed for the new updated Blocked Access option or aka "pagekey" option.
download http://www.gpctexas.net/inc_ipgate.txt change txt to asp and upload to forum directory.
If you are using the pagekeys option, this test will change that function and 'post.asp' will be the only page that will get blocked. Admin page is getting a overhaul to accomodate a change pertaining to "pagekeys" or "Blocked Access".
Main purpose of this test:
This test is to test subnet bans, username bans, and ip bans.
I rewrote the code for all these functions and optimized it quite a bit.
I need a full test to make sure subnet, ipaddress, cookie bans, cookie expire, and username bans still function like before. Also test the Blocked Access option to see if 'post.asp' is not allowed to be accessed. (You can add more pages if you know how to add records to the pagekeys table manually.)
features fix and improvements- -ipbans and subnet bans should ban a user with 1 entry. This should remove the need for 2 entries into the database to ban someone. -You should notice a speed change in the way your pages load. Should be faster . -Shaved approximately 7k off of the file itself. -usernames,ipaddresses, and subnets should be able to share the same line in the db for bannings etc.
The upcoming changes are noted in my post above.
