I developed this little mod to help forum administrators control their forums
when it come to new registration by guranteeing a correct member email. You'll
do that by letting the forum generate a random password of any length you want
and then email it to the provided email, so the new member could retrieve it from
your emial message and log on with it. They would be able to change it in their
profile page at any time.

Get it here:

http://www.freecfm.com/f/frankmania/Pword_Mod.txt

That's all to it, I don't know how this would effect the nt authentication. Hopefuly
someone would look into it and make the neccassary changes if needed otherwise if anyone
thinks this needs some modification, feel free to do so and please make us aware of
those changes. Thank you

Note: Please ignore the forum code in the txt file (e.g. [code], [b], etc...).

Thanks frankie, I will take a look at it. I haven't upgraded to SR4 as of yet. I'm still using 3.1 final, as I have a few mods already and don't want to loose some on the upgrade as it took me a while to get some of them working right.

Thanks again.

Take care;

JT

You're welcome

This should work with any 3.1 version!

Your right it did. Works like a dream thus far and I have tested it various ways.

Thanks for the great mod. It will sure cut down on the fake e-mail addresses, and save me a pile of time on the Admin end.

Take care;

JT

Hmm.. I put this mod in and tested it with a registration and it gave me the correct response but no email was sent to the test email box.

Instead, I got error emails back to my forum email box saying undeliverable. I know the email addresses are valid ones.

I have.. it works for emails sent from posts, just not from the registration.. go figure.

I have my forum set in the admin area to require logon for emailing.. perhaps thats the problem..

Hello frank,

I just implamented those codes you gave freely and found out that after I press the "Agree" button and go to register.asp and the page starts to load I find that I am back at the default.asp page within seconds after register.asp page loads up. I also found that inc_profile.asp page does the same. Is there a reason for this? Why is it doing it?

I made the changes and tested it and found that it did that and thought that I did something wrong so I tried it all over again with register.asp and inc_profile.asp but still it does that again. But with the original files it doesn't do that.

Would you have a solution for this? To stop the page from redirecting to the default.page just moments after it loads?

Thanks,

Della

Can someone post the code (or email it) again? I can't seem to get to the page he had listed.

hmmm!..It shouldn't do that. I think it's the meta refresh tag with the refer statement!!

Thoughts anyone?
