I personally wouldn't use frontpage to upload to the server because it has a tendency to change the code on you. Some people have had success with it (Doug G comes to mind for some reason), so you might want to search for frontpage and see if you can find any tips on it if you're set on using it. |

There are lots of FTP programs which you can download for free and evaluate.
Try a search on google for Bulletproof FTP or RobotFTP (which also has an editor built in).
Or if you are using Windows you already have a dos mode FTP, go to a command line and type:
FTP and then the name of your server, once you connect, type ? and hit enter for a list of options and commands. |

It's been recommended to use one or the other as ftp is sometimes believed to corrupt FrontPage extensions. I've used FrontPage for most of my publishing. You should be ok using FrontPage to publish it if you don't move files around to different directories. You should have your file structure set before using FrontPage or FrontPage may change some links in the code when you go to move something.

I use FrontPage with a web host outside of our company and there were defintiely problems using it to upload the code the first time. When we tried just using FP, it would somehow change things so that the forum just plain didn't work.
Here's what we had to do to get everything to work right here:
1) We used WSFTP to upload the forum files to our web site.
2) We used WSFTP to download the forum files from the web site to the FrontPage directory we use locally.
3) We used FrontPage to upload back to the server.
This is, of course, ridiculously complicated and totally illogical, but it worked. (Please don't ask how long it took us to come up with this solution - it's embarassing.)
We had to do this when we first put Snitz up and it worked the same way (and FrontPage failed the same way on the first try) when we went to version 3.4. |

Probably because I use FP fairly often without problem?
I won't recommend FP because enough folks have problems with it. I have my FP2000 set to preserve existing HTML in Tools - Page Options and haven't had any problem editing config.asp & a few other v3.4 pages. I haven't tested publishing via FP yet, but I've had no problems in the past using FP to publish Snitz.
YMMV
