When I edit my profile and hit submit I get and error telling me that it was unable to conenct to the server and that the changes were not saved.

on this forum, or on your own forum? Sounds like you might have changed your e-mail address and it's trying to send an e-mail to your new e-mail address.

you were right. I had to change my email server to localhost.
