This blooming forum. I have been using this forum for 2 weeks and during that time have suffered anumber of bugger ups. I just got the forum how i wanted it. I hadnt edited anythnig for 1 week then i went o it one day and it was not there. I checked it, reinstalled it from backup and it still didnt work so that means my backup was duff aswell. This has happened 3 times now so i think i will go find another forum cos this has a mind of its own. Bloody thing. |

well, my intent was to redirect you elsewhere to vent your anger because so far you've accomplished NOTHING by complaining and using profanity. how about telling us what your problems are specifically?
obviously snitz forums work just fine, just read other threads around here and you'd see that, so its something you or your host is doing.
now can you be specific and stop swearing and maybe, just maybe someone can try and set you in the right direction. |

oh, and can you edit your subject title, I just have a huge problem with that. you're not going to get much help with that kind of attitude. we understand your frustration but maybe counting to ten before posting something like that would help. |

How does the forum just disppear? Sounds like a problem with your host. Maybe you should go post profanity on their website, it definitely is NOT welcome here. |

Dannnnnnnn, we all have our bad days and, trust me on this, we don't mind if you show your frustration once or twice. However, when you post to get help with solving your problem, you should try to keep profanity down to a bare minimum.
We can't be blamed for your forum disappearing, can we? |

No your right dude and i'm sorry. Its just i have have problems since the very outset with this and after 3 weeks of adjustments and mods adding i got it just as i wanted it. Then one day i go along to the forum and it said,
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Unspecified error
/forum/inc_top.asp, line 75
The last thing i did was to subscribe to a topic and that was it. I tried replacing the page with the backup one and it still didnt work. I tried replacing the whole forum and it still did the same. I tried remaking my ONDC directory on my server and still no joy. I have started again with it all and i cant get the setup to access the database. I would guess that its my server but i have left it over 2 days and still the same. I was very upset about it and needed to cry out which i did. Sorry guys |

In that case, with a unspecified error, that is likely a server problem.
You may try to diminish the ocurrence of the error by doing the conversio of the database format as Roland posted and using a connection string suitable for an Access database (the ones with Jet OLEDB in them, in config.asp).
Changing the forum code in these situations does not solve any problems, because the problem is not caused by the forum code. Probably emailing your host and asking them to reset your site will fix it. |
