Hi!

Does someone know why only the first post is shown when I am entering a Topic? If I click "Reply to Topic" the Topic Review is shown with the list of posts. No moderation on the forum and it is open for all visitors.

Regards
Jynne

Does this happen with all topics, or just a few?
Have you checked the settings for the drop-down box at the top right of your page? What value is usually there?
Can you provide a link to your forum?

Increadibly fast reply, thanks!

Actually we have just started, so this is the first forum with topics in it. There are no drop-down at the top right, is something missing in my installation? I downloaded it just a few days ago so it should be correct version?

The installation is placed on a Linux-machine. I have had a problem with a link having incorrect case. The link was typed with uppercase in the ASP page (topic.asp) and then the page could not be found by the server, could this have some connection to this problem?

The address to the forum is http://www.vanadisgummi.se/forum

I can't seem to get to your site.

What database are you using? You need to use MySQL, Access won't work in a Linux server...

Sorry about the address, this one should work:

http://www.vanadisgummi.se/Forum/default.asp

If you want to reproduce the error you can use this link:
http://www.vanadisgummi.se/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6

I have placed the Access database on a Windows 2000 server and are using ODBC to connect to it from the Linux server. Everything seems to work fine except the list of posts.

Yep, it's the same problem another user is having. http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32014

Exact setup too. Rui, since i am going away, you think you can try and handle these 2 problems? Don't want to leave the other guy hanging.

Occording to the guys at ChiliASP they say this can and should work. (Accessing an Access database from a Unix machine with ChiliASP). But of course chiliasp doesn't support all the ADO properties and methods that windows would. So if you could follow Huwr's advice here http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32398 and see if you can get it working for these users.

This is a first we would be setting up a Snitz with this configuration. Otherwise you would need to actually use a MySQL database or move to a windows host.

Well, well, nice going away present you give me David .

I'll give it a try both here and with the other user.

Jynne, I'll be away for much of today, but I'll try to handle this when I come back. Probably better to use Yahoo IM (my ID there is ruirrib) or MSN Messenger (email is ruirib @ computer.org) to get in touch with me about this.
I'll be trying to overcome this by changing the way we handle paging in topic.asp.

I'll post (or IM you) when I'm ready to try something. You'll need to the editing of the file and the testing, because I cannot reproduce your environment). Probably we can also concentrate this on a single topic (http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32014) since you both will need to do the same file changes.

Jynne,

As I said, let's get this into a single topic. Have a look here: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=3&TOPIC_ID=32014#157481

Try to apply my suggestion made at that last post and please post the results at that topic, not this one, ok?

Ok, I will send my coming posts to the other topic.

Unfortunately I will be away for two days (will be leaving in 6 hours) . I don't think that there even are a phoneline available where I am going... But when I am back I will be glad to test your ideas. Since I am on vacation I will only be connected via modem and therefore connected only when checking my mail and posts.

Thanks
Jynne
