How difficult would it be to include a checkbox in post.asp below the "check here to include your profile signature" to do "disable parsing of smile code"?

Similiar to how vBulletin/UBB does it.

I'm guessing add code to post.asp to assign a 0 or 1 value to the checked box. Modify post_info to look for the value. Then whereever the code is that converts the post text to img tags, do a "if value _______ = 1, then...." "else" move on.

Sound good? Would you need to mod the DB to add a field to TOPICS & REPLIES? Does topic.asp convert the smile code on each load? Or is the img code stored as part of the post in the db?

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks.

That is why we use [ & ] around the smilies, so we won't have to have a checkbox to disable parsing of smilies.

was I on the right track though in my original post about how one would go about writing such a mod?
