I have searched this forum for a solution to my problem and found it in a locked topic HERE only problem being that the link to the zip file is no longer working. Do you still have the file with the extra tables in David?
Before i uploaded the 2 files, when somebody was banned, it said the user's name after 'account' on admin_ban_ip.asp page. Now it just says 'Account: not registered'. I have banned the users from the members page the same way I was doing before. Any idea why?
It might be because the files you uploaded are from an older version of the ban ip mod. You probably should have copied the code into your exisitng files. Is the code commented out? If not, you would need to look for the differences in the file.
I can do that for you if you like. Just post a link to the 2 ban ip admin files in text format so I can view them.

The file I downloaded was looking for MEMBERS.M_USERNAME and M_USERNAME.
I have just changed them to MEMBERS.M_NAME and M_NAME to match my database and it works fine now.
Thanks for replying anyway. I can now ban up to 20, which should be enough for now.
One last question, I take it the ip is a subnet ip? So there is a chance that banning an ip will ban more than one user? As most of our members are in UK and a large amount of them using the same isp (ntl) I can foresee a problem.
I know, but what I am saying is that the ip address stored in the database is not the same as the ip address of my machine. When I trace it, it shows up as ntl Cardiff. Several other users in the same area have the same ip recorded on the forum?
