Would the authors of the MODs please state whether or not they are going to update their MOD for 3.4. For the authors not updating, someone else may want to pick up the task for MODs they want unless the MOD are copyrighted/not open source.
It is sufficient to just state the following:
MOD name last version of Snitz it works with (e.g, 3.303, 3.3.05, etc.) updating or not copyrighted or not - open source or not
Thanks.
Mike
Hmmm. Just thought of this. Question: Are all MODs open source by default or do some authors maintain their rights to them?

Hmmm ... that would be nice, though certainly not expected.
I don't know what I'm going to do, yet ... I have so many MODs installed. It'll likely be a major undertaking for me, though fun , and maybe a lot easier the second time around.
Probably, I'll keep running 3.3.05 until some of what I consider the more important MODs [to my forum, anyway] get updated ... Polls would be one, for sure!

there are a lot of mods that were done where the authors have not come back. I for one will not try to do it for 3.4 because I will not be going to 3.4 for some time. however, I will download 3.4 and play with it and when I feel comfortable I will definately try to convert the popular mods first, unless someone beats me to it

It would be prudent to perhaps wait until they have seens 3.4

Is it getting close to the time that we can get replies to the age-old question: Are ya upgrading your MOD to be used with v3.4?
I'd like to start planning what I am going to do for my forums and am anxious to know who will and will not be upgrading their MODs.
Thanks.

I think it would be fair to say NO. Patience will definately need to be exercised here. The moderators are looking at 3.4 right now and reporting back all the bugs that can immediately be found and fixed.
However, if it will make you feel any better, I am currently working on an Avatar/File Upload Mod. |

Personally, I myself have tiddled with about every mod in the exchange and do not plan to upgrade my portal.
However I do plan on using the new code as a hobby and setting up the older mods to work with the new source so I have something to do, self employment is a pain in the rear.
But the difficulty in doing this is as yet unknown since to be candid to date all I have seen is bragging on the new source and have yet to see a single page as an example of the layout.

LOL, I remember updating from 3.1 to 3.3.03 and I can tell you, it wasn't something that i'd describe as fun!
Grr, 3.4 looks so good. I can't believe how quickly everything is loading! I just wish I could remember how many mods i've installed...
*note to self* keep a diary of installed mods next time.
A topic with a list of converted mods as they're done and tested would be a good thing. Does 3.4 have a built in sticky topic feature? |
