HuwR or Richard,
I added this mod to my forums (HuwR's current version) and here's what happens:
When I click the announcement, the announcment comes up in the full window, then when you click the "Close Window" I get a popup box that says "...is trying to close the window. Do you want to close it?" Clicking Yes closes the entire browser.
Help please?
Thanks!

Could you e-mail me your default.asp file? I'd like to see exactly where you inserted it. Plus I can try it on my server and see if it behaves the same.

cheldan, you don't have the database setup correctly.
Did you just download the fader? If so, you need to download the Announcements mod also (there is a link to it in the first message of this thread).
If you did download the .zip file from the first message in this thread, you haven't uploaded the forum_announcements.dbs file. You need to upload that file and then run mod_dbsetup.asp and then choose the Forum Announcements MOD from the drop down list.
Here is the error I see when viewing the source of your page:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e37' The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query 'FORUM_ANNOUNCE'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly. /worxpc/forum/inc_fader.asp, line 35

You have your link as: http://www.kiss-forever.net/forum
But, I get a 404 error with that link, on your main page the link to your forum is: http://www.kiss-forever.net/bbs/
Looks like HuwR modified the Mod I did so that it opens in a Window instead of fullscreen.
I'll look for the code he used and post a fix for it. |

Therion93,
On line #50 of inc_fader.asp
change this code:
AnnounceLink = strForumURL & "view_announcements.asp" %>
to this:
AnnounceLink = "javascript:openAnnounceWindow('view_announcements.asp')" %>
that should fix your problem. If not let me know. |

Richard,
Now clicking has absolutely no effect at all. (which in this case is better than what WAS happening but still not correct)

for the thing with your signature see here: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/link.asp?TOPIC_ID=4503
You'll probably just need to change that code in inc_fader.asp back to what it was for the link.
The java.class that I'm currently using seems to need http:// in the link to use it as a link. I wasn't really ready to release the fader anyways, but some people were asking for it so I did. It's even harder to troubleshoot it because Huw changed the view_announcements.asp page in his forum code that you are using.
I'm still looking for a better fader to use with it that is more compatible and easier to use. When I've found one that works well, I plan on including it with the Announcements Mod instead of as an add-on. I just don't know when that will be. For right now, it's kinda like "use at your own risk". I'm still messing with it and it's by no means finished. |
